Writings of the FOUNDING FATHERS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

The very first sentence says

"A militia, when properly formed, are in fact the people themselves, and render regular troops in a great measure unnecessary

this expressely tells that he means the individual person

Wrong....not every citizen was a part of the militia, the militia was a select group of citizens that were chosen from the population, and even those citzens chosen to be a part of the militia were still regulated. So yes, those militiamen were a part of "the people" but they weren't all the people. The people have always been capable of being restricted in the arms he or she might have and how they can be put to use.

Thus, how illogical is it to believe that the framers who didn't even intend the militiamen to have an unregulated right to arms, would want Amercians in this day and age to have an unlimited right to guns.......?

Highly illogical.

Ryan.

By the way, Chesty.........our founders turned a blind eye to slavery.......Should we follow that 300 year old policy as well?

It meant every able bodied man, not the selected able bodied man. You really need to read your history more.

Apparently you have no credible, verifiable proof that he meant otherwise.

Yeah, so they had slaves. Your point. The Constitution never said anything about gauranteeing the right to own a human being. Therefore, it was amended to address the situation.

Apparently the founding fathers did not see owning slaves as a right to be protected.

Now, how about getting back on track with the subject at hand and stop using the old bait and switch tactics so famous of liberals who cannot effectively defend or state their position.

This thread is not about slavery. Bad RyanH, bad RyanH.
