World's strongest man to make MMA debut

traz if he had wind he might have actually been able to do something cause he got in on Sylvia at will. What blew me away though is that Sylvia sprawled him. I mean wasn't he supposed to be able to just pick up the biggest dude's in MMA and smash them longtime? I didn't think he'd be pickin up Lesnar or nobody like that but Sylvia? Fuck, didn't Couture blow through Sylvia and take him down at will? I mean he had "ONE" charge in him and managed to kind of half ass Tim to the floor but in such a way that he got right back the fuck up. There was just no explosion and that's what surprises me. I'm not surprised he lost to a veteran....I'm surprised at how bad he looked. It honestly didn't look like he trains much in MMA.

He's never DONE MMA period bro...

wait, he's never trained MMA at all? like ever? So he just brushed up on his old boxing skills and started fighting? I mean that explains why he has no cardio..so on the one hand I'm not unimpessed but on the other hand that just sound ridiculously dumb.

Does anyone know what weight this was fought at? I know heavyweight is usually 265 but some of the lesser regulated organization really dont have weight limits. I thought Puz was around 320, so I really dont know how he would cut to 265 to fight a guy like Lesnar/Carwin.

I think this just breaks down to technique, and from what I have seen he doesnt have it. Strength is really important to heavys, but you have to know how to use that weight and strength. I am 245 , my discipline coming into mma 4 years ago was muay thai and I can move guys much stronger then me in the clinch all the time because I know how to do it. It makes me laugh when these 300lb weight lifting sport guys enter the gym and just expect their strength to carry them.

That is exactly what silvia did, he had double under hooks most of the clinch game, so unless he can lift around 260 dead weight with a shifting center of gravity with just his biceps, he wasnt going to take Tim down. He has potential but he needs years of training before he is going to fight guys that have trained combat sports for 20 years.

he had to get off juice and was under 300 pretty much instantly i read. and then he had to start cutting weight from there. i cant remember what he weighed in at but it wasnt "that" much compared to what he used to weigh in wsm.

he had to get off juice .

and as soon as he did that he probably had to stop eating bacon saurkraut and candy as his diet. No shit, that's what that fucker eats....no way your body metabolizes that unless you're a roid induced nitrogen producing machine.

No fuckin' way! That's fucking sick.:eek2:

It was hard for me to fathom when I read it. Maybe it's changed by now, but in his best WSM days homeboy's diet was just simply "calories"....and I guess when you're pounding GH, Insulin and whatever gear combination your mind can come up with....actual quality of food is irrelevant, your body is metabolizing and synthesizing everything.

That couldn't have been good for his overall health. Wonder what kind of impact it will have in the next couple of years, while he ages.

lol seen some of it. not know what him is doing inside the ring. why not give THE BEAST and him a G-string each and some oil. And them kan make love in some hotel or something. Not eaven entertaning to look them fight....

Marius looked like an over ripe tomato about to explode after 2 mins.

I had a friend that was a fighter, about 5'8" 210, smooth. Very large fists. He used to love knocking out big juiceheads, did it all the time.

I've personally tooled guys 50 pounds heavier on the mats many times. There's very little carryover from bodybuilding/powerlifting type workouts to MMA. Trying to use strength to win a fight gives you about one set worth of time until you're blown up.

That's 30-90 seconds fellas.

One of my favorite fight vids is of a 150lbs Gracie destroying a huge bodybuilder who's claimed weight is 250 (although he looks too short to be over 210 to me). It's not even a contest after 90 seconds.

Bodybuilding is not a sport. It's an art. Why would you risk destroying a sculpture you worked on for years by fighting? I don't think the guy even got paid. It was kind of funny though.
