World's strongest man to make MMA debut

LOL! You guys were all over this guys nuts. He show promise though, if he can shed some muscle and build a better cardio tank, he'll be ok.

I hope this fight put to rest any notions that Mariusz could even remotely compete with top heavyweight fighters in the world.

I actually think Lesnar would "literally" kill him in the ring with that lack of wind. I mean he fell to the ground like a baby against Tim Sylvia who really did nothing to him. How long do you think he could have fended off a guy who's actually larger than he is and has the heart capacity to go for 3-4 rounds all out...??? Lesnar would have been on top of him within in seconds and literally killing him. It was hard to watch this fight.......but it's good for people to see that dominance in one sport or activity does not necessarily translate to the other. Lesnar was supposedly "beasted" by the vikings practice squad linemen....but MMA fit more his background. Mariusz's strongman training just doesn't translate well into fighting another trained man in a ring. If he's going to do well he has to completely let go of strongman and do MMA training....it's that simple.

Marius got winded and couldn't do anything...but wait till he learns how to fight. He DID fight an ex-champ...

To fight Tim that early in his career was stupid. Way to big of a jump into the sport. But holy sh!t Heavyweight fighting has to be one of the toughest sports period.

LOL! It wasn't so much that. It was the statment his fans were making like his ungodly man strenght would be more then enough to defeat even the top fighters in MMA. It takes more then to move some stones to be a good fighter. Strenght is only one talent of many talents one needs to obtain, but isn't ranked higher then say skill, conditoning, and heart.

traz if he had wind he might have actually been able to do something cause he got in on Sylvia at will. What blew me away though is that Sylvia sprawled him. I mean wasn't he supposed to be able to just pick up the biggest dude's in MMA and smash them longtime? I didn't think he'd be pickin up Lesnar or nobody like that but Sylvia? Fuck, didn't Couture blow through Sylvia and take him down at will? I mean he had "ONE" charge in him and managed to kind of half ass Tim to the floor but in such a way that he got right back the fuck up. There was just no explosion and that's what surprises me. I'm not surprised he lost to a veteran....I'm surprised at how bad he looked. It honestly didn't look like he trains much in MMA.

So much potential for that guy, though he gassed out so quickly and he is in fact very new and hasn't been training for long at all and unlike brock he does not have a martial arts background so cut the guy some slack, and regardless of his huge frame his stamina could still be a lot better than it was on that fight, not to mention he fought an ex ufc champion.

If, as I suspect, he's trying to be some kind of two sport guy....his MMA carreer is going to be short lived. He needs to switch over to MMA training now and maybe in a few years he'll be something to deal with. If he thinks he can do split training for MMA and strongman it isn't going to work. His past strongman training will help in certain areas but he has to develop the capacity to sustain that kind of force production over minutes, not seconds like his strongman training leans toward. He looks like he could develop the same style as Coleman, although maybe a better striker as he has that boxing background. He definitely needs to concentrate on learning how to shoot in so that if he does get sprawled he's in close and utilize his striking. He's never going to get in on guys by just walking in, he doesn't have that classical strikers physique.
