Also the player that has most impressed me this World Cup is Recoba. This guy is spectacular for both Uruguay and Inter. I believe he should be up there with Figo and Zidane.

Looks like France are dead and burried almost, Henry deserved the red card, insane challenge.

Uruguay really should have taken it, Recoba missed an open goal somehow, he had like hours to take his time, and even pass the ball to the two supporting players or control it and put it into the empty goal, but no he went for the ego first time shot and put it wide, when he really didnt need to rush it.

France look doomed now though

first half we played really well, Butt and Scholes with Beckham were solid in Midfield and Owen was giving them serious problems. Heskey was as always completely useless, Sheringham should have played from the start.

The second half however I am disappointed with, sure we won, but we played our typical 10 man defence, why?!??!?!?!?!!?!?!

We were dominating them in the first half, why did we need to be so damn negative and defend deep for 40minutes solid

Anyway, we won, now all we need is a Sweden win over Argentina and they are out.

It helped us that Veron went off injured and Batistuta didnt look very threatening.

It was close though, almost inevitable that they woudd score with our defending.


It did look like they were trying to force into aggressive retaliation in the first 20mins or so, loads of fouls.
