Name the last time you dated a wiminz that made you laugh all the time? Now, how many women have you dated that expected you to entertain them most of the time? In my thirty six years wiminz have made it clear that my good looks and personality(making them laugh) are why they fell for me. They're actually turned off by my intelligence. Initially, they love the fact I'm smart but when they realize I'm smarter than they are...wiminz still want to be the smart one. :)

I said I thought he was talking nonsense on the whole. What I should of said is that he is talking nonsense in part. It is true to say that women generally aren't funny (unless they're fat lezzers) but I think he is waaaaaaay off when he tries to tie it into the mating game and the smile being a form of surrender etc. I don't believe it has anything to do with that, Doods have more laughs with their friends than with their women. I'd say making women laugh to get along with them is a fairly recent phenomenon, cavemen no doubt clubbed their women or put them in a headlock and took em to the cave, no laughs involved. Indeed, men in recent centuries were quite paternal as heads of the household I'm not sure comedy was always a necessity.
 
You know I agree to a point, some women can be really witty or funny sarcastic, but real humor, like where you're rolling on the floor cracking up out of breath, I never get if from chicks

Women laugh at each other's jokes though. They can lol for hours about stupid stuff. I think its men that just don't find them funny.

lol fuck it's hard being so perfect. but i don't think girls want to be the smart one necessarily; it's just that the average girls thinks a guy is smart just because he makes them feel like they are having a "smart"/"deep" convo, when chances are it is usually bs. And legitimate smart people who they can't follow they just think are weird/nerdy/boring, or even dumb. I hate to talk like this, but i think i am really smart, and that only smart people realize it. Which i think is why the girls i have dated seriously have all had really high GPAs.

Why women are not funny, according to Nef:

1) Being funny is a learned activity, as well as a talent. But that talent has to be nurtured early on in life. learning what is funny and what isn't means throwing out some duds and risking your joke falling completely flat. Men are known to be bigger risk takers, and humor is a much more integral part of how men bond with other men than it is in that of relationships between women. So they not only have more incentive to take the risks to "learn" what gets people to laugh, but they ahve less fear of the risk.

2) ATW already hit on this point, but it's true. if you accept that one learns to be funny through feedback, you're going to have a lot of women who have guys laughing to humor them or to try and get them into bed, thus they think they are getting genuine positive feedback, but they are not. So even when the dud is getting thrown out there, she's not learning that THAT particular thing was not funny - reinforcing her lame sense of humor.

3) Finally, the worst thing, in my opinion, is women who try to be funny in the same way that men are funny. Hearing a women make jokes about smelly balls is just not really going to be funny. The kind of humor I laugh at the most is the kind I can relate to in some way. I can't relate to Sarah Silverman making jokes about smelly balls. Neither can a guy, because it's coming from the mouth of a pretty female. There's something inherently incongruent about it.


That said...I have laughed at both Stilleto and Smurfy. I think some women are funny...it's just not biologically necessary for us to develop that skill, so less do it.

hmmmm gonna disagree on this one...

what's funny to one person isn't funny to the other so who gets to set the parameters for this said "learned behavior"?

i think it boils down to a level of intellect that people either have or dont...regardless of gender.

it may be true to say more men are funny than women but isn't it typically the sarcastic smelly balls humored guys that people find the funniest? or is that just MY opinion of funny?

i think being funny comes down to experiences in life and how they are either incorporated in your life or not. ability to think outside of the norm walk of life and expectations people have predetermined.

but hey, i'm just a chic...what do i know?

Thing is, witty or being able to pair two disparate ideas in a way that the absurdity you can relate too or make you laugh, immediately lets me know that she's affable with peeps, likes to interact, open minded to a certain degree, and has a more encompassing ability to recognize patterns or relationships that are usually not perceived. Wit, Cleverness, a balanced tongue that can cut and heal, this to me is so fucking sexy.
I think when we are saying funny here we are like associating it with more like the gross shit that we all do or whatever. Its more like a reductionist object based thing. Its more like a male thing perhaps, cause this type of humor is more like based on showing how facts or logic doesn't match up. Its more geared to showing how weak some shit is or nonfunctional. Its based more on function. This is what I attribute to funny, pointing out shit that just doesn't or relations that don't make any sense through the idea that the shit is logically incoherent.
This is a huge generalization, but it seems to me that, women relate more with the underlying dynamic in how peeps relate. Their humor is gonna be geared more toward like interrelation and interpretation. This would incline more of a wit type clever humor. More subtle.
Funny is more overt than, while wit is more subtle. Funny is not seductive, or alluring to most dudes. Silverman is hawt, but yeah I wouldn't wanna be with her and wondering what the fuck she is concocting about my shit.
Its just not feminine to be funny is we kinda use this logic or understanding of funny.

Generally yes - but my point is that THAT kind of humor coming from a woman seems off. To me and to a lot of people. Call it a double standard.

oh yea yea agreed...well again for me what defines funny is clever quick wit. not the sarah silverman 24/7 obscenities, not a chic who's sitting around telling knock knock jokes or the chic who giggles after someone says something funny and then repeats it in her own terms. that's lame.

Wit is an entire different category...when I think funny, I think the person that has you in gut busting laughter. Clever wit - that's a symptom of intelligence, and not gender specific. It just doesn't translate to standup very well because it is part of interaction with another person.

Hell, I explained myself so much better the last time I wrote that out. Maybe i should have titled it - why most women are not funny to men.

2. nerf is laid back enough to not get upset about stereo typical jokes about broad subjects. (even though she is a broad)

I know a hysterically funny woman from college, whose brilliant, and just got engaged. So, there's at least one guy out there laughing his ass off nightly.
 
I didn't look at the clip or read past the first page but on average yeah,many women aren't funny and don't have to be the entertainer so to speak. As men we get a lot more practice and feel like humor enhances our chances of getting laid so we develop that skill.

however between friends and certain girls I've dated some of them are hilarious. What they all seem to have in common is they're a "guys girl" and they kind of grew into that mindset of comedy. Its rare but I love chicks who are funny or can at least stand toe to toe with ballbusting or sarcasm.

I have a number 4. Men deal with bad out comes with humor. Especially with dating. LOL. I don't care who you are, guys get shot down by women and sometimes in funny but fairly mean ways. Also men run in packs and I think its more a pack behavior to get along with the pack. Example some guy goes nuts puts on a good show while being an asshole. Next day the response is humorous not we need to get rid of that guy. Depends on what you did though. LOL.
