Women and hairloss

Big BX

New member
Ladies,

Any of you know about hairloss an T3? Is this possible? I am a little skeptical about this, but the girl I train said this is the case.

Her cycle is:

12.5mg T# a day for 6 weeks
10mg var for 3 weeks
15mg var for 5 weeks

Just started in and it is week 2 of the cycle.

She is 5'6' 140 muscular build. 37 years old.

I know a few other girls that have taken var but none have lost hair.

Any comments are appreciated.

Yes hair loose is possible well on T3. Anything that effect the function of your thyroid like T3 does would also effect all the things that relate to your thyroid such as hair growth, skin condition etc.

What has she cycled before and were there any sides?
What brand var and t3 is she taking?
What is her current diet like?
What are her goals with this cycle?

She told me first cycle, by looking at her I would say not the first. She said she took prohormones. She had the look before.

QV var and Cytomel from Mexico.

6 meals, spread out 200-250 calories a meal.

You wants to lose weight and tone up.

Don't think I've ever heard of var causing hairloss - more things like winny & primo. (Are you sure she isn't using one of those as well....?)

Although the dose of t3 is very small & I probably woudlnt' expect a big deal w/ that dosage - its still self-medicating w/ hormones -- her own thyroid may not be producing optimally --- she might want to get her levels checked to be clear on what she's working with.

Here's some info on hairloss -- hard to diagnose via a chat board - but she should look at what she's doing and consider any possible sources or just live w/ it and get a bottle of Nizoral or Nioxin shampoo.

What causes excessive hair loss?
A number of things can cause excessive hair loss. For example, about 3 or 4 months after an illness or a major surgery, you may suddenly lose a large amount of hair. This hair loss is related to the stress of the illness and is temporary.

Hormonal problems may cause hair loss. If your thyroid gland is overactive or underactive, your hair may fall out. This hair loss usually can be helped by treatment of the thyroid disease. Hair loss may occur if male or female hormones, known as androgens and estrogens, are out of balance. Correcting the hormone imbalance may stop your hair loss.

Many women notice hair loss about 3 months after they've had a baby. This loss is also related to hormones. During pregnancy, high levels of certain hormones cause the body to keep hair that would normally fall out. When the hormones return to pre-pregnancy levels, that hair falls out and the normal cycle of growth and loss starts again.

Some medicines can cause hair loss. This type of hair loss improves when you stop taking the medicine. Medicines that can cause hair loss include blood thinners (also called anticoagulants), medicines used for gout, medicines used in chemotherapy to treat cancer, vitamin A (if too much is taken), birth control pills and antidepressants.

Certain infections can cause hair loss. Fungal infections of the scalp can cause hair loss in children. The infection is easily treated with antifungal medicines.

Finally, hair loss may occur as part of an underlying disease, such as lupus or diabetes. Since hair loss may be an early sign of a disease, it is important to find the cause so that it can be treated.

Can improper care of my hair cause hair loss?
Yes. If you wear pigtails or cornrows or use tight hair rollers, the pull on your hair can cause a type of hair loss called traction alopecia (say: "al-oh-pee-sha"). If the pulling is stopped before scarring of the scalp develops, your hair will grow back normally. However, scarring can cause permanent hair loss. Hot oil hair treatments or chemicals used in permanents (also called "perms") may cause inflammation (swelling) of the hair follicle, which can result in scarring and hair loss.

She isn't taking anything but var and T3.

I asked her about her thyroid and if there was anything a matter with it. She told me she took Armour thyroid before from a doctor. But, no hairloss there.

Unless its stress or maybe even diet -- not sure. I wouldn't expect it to be the t3 at that level. Var -- probably not unheard of --- its all a DHT thing.
