Will the rap/hip hop culture ever die?

You misspelled "fads".
amazing to me the similiarites between rap and rock n roll when they came on the scene....haters of elivs/beadles/stones said the same type of things, that it was a fad, trash, can't sing, etc.
rap is a branch of music that is constantly evolving, kinda like how rock went from cheezy metal in the 80's to grunge metal of the 90's...to imply that it is just a "fad" that will pass is pretty weak bro.
it's dominant in culture, everything from sports to soda pop is advertised with a hip hop soundtrack.
it's what all the youth listen to, not going anywhere good bro

I see a pretty big difference. In hiphop/rap, no one listens to anything that is much more than six months old. That's what I meant by fad, that the market doesn't seem to support any sort of staying power. Old rap is just last week's news.

classic rap albums like ready to die, the chronic, anything by nwa, still sell units to this day

More stereotypical nonsense...
You have no idea what's going on behind the scenes.

I was watching 60 minutes and they did a story about how rap and hip hop music talks down about people who help the police solve murders calling them "snitches". What the fuck is wrong with these people? I'll never understand why black musicians sing about being a gangster thug. They're perpetuating a negative stereotype of black people. Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson need to start screaming about this. I believe in free speach but I just don't understand why these artists choose to perform this crap. It would be great if one of these rap guys like 50 Cent turned his back on the gangsta rap music and just started singing respectable music. Can you just imagine rappers singing lyrics about it being cool to graduate from college or something else that's wholesome?

yeah but those albums were all very eye opening and abrasive when they came out...thats why they have stuck. ive always been a fan of music. ive always liked hip hop as well (though i dont listen to it often). music about "comin up in the hood from nothing" doesnt apply to me...but i respect legitimate artists who have made it big from being basically trash. i absolutely despise today's popular hip hop. hip hop in general is not garbage (ex: lupe fiasco, dilated peoples, the roots) but lil jon, mike jones and most of the others that are played in a loop on the radio so that some 19 year old white kids can play there cds really loud to attract females is garbage.
