ok.....I was reading a scientific report about this issue last year.....doubt I could find it but it was on one of the boards......I think it was posted on Anabolex
Quit...thats the best thing, I smoked for 10 years a pack a day....started in public school but I always boxed so I was able to keep my endurance higher than 99% of the non-smokers...quit cold turkey, just woke up and said fuck it....first 2 weeks sucked ass but it got better after that.....dont drink while you are tryuing to quit and the cravings are intense but breath heavy and try not to think of it......they only last for 5-10 minutes but it feels like all day and keep yourself busy
This report showed that smoking helps burn fat and that it also lowers cortisol levels which is a good thing....thats what this study showed
BUT...my own experience, it helped me gain.....I was able to eat more for my bulking.....my endurance improved....better oxygen to the body means better pumps and My strength went up....not alot but it was noticable.....maybe it was just the added endurance
think of all the bad shit smoking causes....even your skin looks healthier when you quit, I also felt like I was on a high dose ECA all day long from the added energy and cravings. Until you actually quit....you will never know just how terrible you smell, I never noticed it before but its repulsive.....your sence of smell goes way up when you quit.
I know what the stress is all about because right when I quit I went through some bad shit.....girl broke up with me after 3.5 years but I just used all the negative energy and spent it in the gym.....the first 3 months smoke free were awesome....I didnt cave and used everything bad as motivation to improve myself.....I took everything to the next level....my boxing and my jui-jitsu....sparred longer, rolled longer just upped the intensity of everything, the cravings put you ina bad mood and I used all that anger and turned it into controled aggression in the ring.
Its hard to do and being that I was in the same boat I wont knock a smoker, it takes alot of willpower to quit but you have to challenge yourself and take control....anything you want to do you can do, let everyone know you quit as well because the possitive comments help, also pick a day and prepare for it...have lots of gum handy.
Zyban works from what I hear but I read that less than 5% who quit cold turkey make it...that was a challenge I wanted to prove I could do. But do what works for you just dont give up, alot of guys have try to quit numerous times before they actually do, start a post when you quit and be honest...let everyone know how its going day to day.....the possitive replies and praise you get will not only help but will be well deserved
