Why would anybody choose construction for a living?

i don't think that's really the case anymore. It's pretty much evolved to long hours + sacrifice = hard work.I think before it was "hard work" because of the physical taxation on your body. Jobs now require a higher stress thresh hold and mental capacity than 50 years ago.

Buncha fatties now

not good

I think construction workers and farmer, etc, work a lot harder physically the I do, and they put in a lot of hours. I just talked to a guy who works on a farm and he has 200 hours logged in two weeks. That would suck.

I still work a lot of hours, but not like that

Im a union pipefitter and if you want to work on power plants or refineries you can make 100-150k a year easy. Alot of my buddies with there college degrees and debt are waitin tables. I could never work in a cubicle and alot of white collar guys gain that office weight.

gas plants in canada is major coin. i make a little over 100 grand a year as lead hand for my crew.but where the coin is at is plant operator. keyano college in fort mcmurray has an online course for 7 grand. its a 6 month course for class 4 power engineer. the 20 year old kids who took this course on my plant have a 170K salary working 7 on 7 off. 170k working half the year. im seriously considering doing this, but im currently in the middle of my safety officer program and my industrial firefighter courses. 6 months of school tho and 170 fucking thousand dollars. and in the next 5 years with all the plant expansions they are gonna be needing a few thousand more operators... and for u americans i dont mean heavy equipment operators. they open and close valves all day and monitor bitumen(crude oil) levels/quality etc. plus camp life is fun. every meal is cooked and cleaned up afterwards for u. flown to and from work, or given the option of a company truck. we got a paintball range, driving range, archery, our own boats for those with licenses, all kinds of shit.. i like it anyways
