Why OOOO why did I get a tongue ring??

Prob so you can do curls with your tongue man. LOL...Put some weight on there and i swear you will have gained 3lbs of lean body mass in your tongue.

I had mine done and at first it annoyed the shit out of me. Had it in for about 3 years before I took it out.


I think once he gets used to it all will be fine. And like previous poster said, if he don't like it he can just take it out and it closes up rather quickly.

When my tongue is not swelled up ten times to big I will take some pics..liquid diet for at least a week now. SO fare the worst part is when I get the ring past the bottom teeth and forget its there. Then I pull my tongue back and almost rip a whole threw it. Hard to swallow to but fuck it.

I got my tongue pierced in the 90's... actually on my 18th birthday. I got it down to a 4 gauge and was going for a 2 but then the ball broke and back then you couldn't just buy balls that big in a store... not even Tattoo parlors, they were special order. By time I got one it started to close up... then I broke another and another.... it ended up back at a 10g and I let it close up... by time I was 23 it was gone.

i stretched mine up to a 00, had 0 for 6 months and 00 for another 6 months, my last year of my 6 year run with that shit in my mouth.. its been 2 years and I can still squirt water through it and put a straw through.. it was cool at first, but im almost 30 now.. my kids dont like it. lol. and now that im divorced makes my exwife look sleazier than before.. :P

No, actually I didn't. I made a point to over-speak in order to avoid people knowing I had it. I have a professional job (which DEFINITELY wouldn't allow a tongue ring) and had it for 1 1/2 years and no one at work knew. I chose clear plastic balls as well so I wouldn't crack my teeth.

I think people who talk like they have a ring do it on purpose to show it off.... or they just got it because your tongue is SO swollen it's inevitable in the beginning.

Carry around a bottle of Listerine (if you don't already). Since your mouth is a natural source for large amounts of bacteria make sure to swish multiple times throughout the day. Especially after you eat or drink.... food trapped (ie: salt content, etc...) will be washed out to help avoid swelling... you will find your tongue will be the most swollen in the morning... first thing you want to do is get some water in your and that ol' faithful listerine.

Listerine is too harsh for an open wound. Bactine works a whole lot better.....and suck on crushed ice to make the swelling go down. Im sure you were already told this but just incase you werent...that helped me out alot...I was g2g in about 5-6 days.
 
Bactine is not meant to be ingested, it's an antibacterial/anticeptic spray for external use. Go with the Listerine.

When I received my tongue ring I was told to use only childrens mouth wash. The alcohol content in regular mouthwashes is not good for healing the wound, and also produces thrush on the tongue.

Oh this shit was funny to read. I am recovering from a slight tear in my labrum and couldn't even read a bout all you people working out. So I am almost back to working out and wanted to catch up on the forums, so I am back....

Needto- Suck it up man!!! In the last 12 months, I did my eyebrow- on vacation, then proceeded to do my lower lip and TONGUE the same damn day. Talk about shit pain....I took the tongue out a few weeks ago, and the lip soon followed, turned out, my daughter didnt like to kiss daddy with a lip ring, she is only 3, so I had to give in. Then I went back and got both nipples done. It is pain yes, but if you like the look, or your wife likes the feel, then deal with it bro! Try the nipples dude, I couldnt raise my my arms above my head for about 6 hours afterwards LOL...

Seriously tho- it does hurt, and not eating for days sucks! Good luck

My summer has been great so far bro.. Me and the wife went to Newport last weekend, had a great time.. The weather has sucked here in new england though.. Worst summer weather wise in a while... Looking forward to football season though.. Patriots are going to tear shit up this year.
