Might sound kind of hokey but I enjoy volunteering. I've worked in soup kitchens during the holidays, as well as collecting donated food items (non e-coli) for baskets for the less fortunate. Done the walks and bike rides for cancer. Every year I've been involved in repainting local elementary schools (which my kids love to do too) as well as the dredded PTA volunteer raising money for playground equipment, books for the library, computers for the classroom. One of my favorites has to be the yearly weekend round-up cleaning up the desert, (maybe it's the free tee-shirt). It's amazing how many people think it's their private dumping grounds. And yes I work full time just like you so find a kid and read a book to them it will make you feel good.

Met some great people through charitable projects. Helped build/paint schools in Cambodia, done many local charity fund raisers and even spent a night camped out in a cardboard box as part of homelessness awareness. We’ve got a drop in center for kids next door, they’re never any bother those kids. For Xmas after seeing their sorry excuse for a party the company sent round a bunch of food and boxes of shoes, clothing etc, their faces, you’d think the poor bastards had never owned a pair of new shoes before. Also a good buddy of mine Chris organizes the ‘Tour de Thailand’ each year, hopefully be able to join him for one of the legs this year, all very Smashie & Nicey mate.
Very wary of charities, lots of big business behind the innocent fronts, hard to tell who's genuine. Rather than make conscience soothing anonymous donations it’s always more of an experience to get involved in a local project. That way you get to meet the people that will benefit and more importantly you aid in building community.

I served 200 hours back in day. I think that holds me off for awhile.
I do play in gay charity events around school like flag football tourneys and other dumb shit the sororities sponser for philanthropy.
it's more of a party than anything.

because the only people in my community who need help are trashy mexicna illegal aliens who pretty much doom themseleves to poverty by blowing off school, not bothering to learn English and not making any effort to make them legal.
The ONLY volunteering Ill ever do is to help rid the country of the fucking parasites.
