Why Don’t I more freaks with all the gear people are taking

This has been one of the most informative and eye-opening posts I've ever read on this board. I am, however, very new to the EF and to lifting for the matter being only 20 years old, lifting for about 3 years. I appreciate every bit of wisdom, experience, and opinion all of you guys give. Everyday I learn something new. Thanks guys!

bigp3........what should the ratios look like? carbs, fat , protein, etc....? should i try to get most of my calories from protien sources ? or carbs? fats? i'd feel more comfortable if my meals consisted of 60% meat, etc........i'd feel more comfortable eating
these many meals i f the mojority of them consisted of mostly lean meats..........or am i missing the importance of carbs and fats?

Drugs, for me, have helped me NO MORE than the other components of bodybuilding. No matter what I take or how much I take of it... if I don't eat enough, sleep enough, or train properly... I don't get the desired results I'm after. IMO... nutrition, exercise, and sleep supercede the importance of drugs/supplements.

Some of the(male)strippers around here are a prime example of what I'm talking about. These guys use plenty of steroids. However... they eat 'drive-through' every day, abuse booze/street drugs, and neglect their sleep. As a result... they look like a bloated version of Kid Rock.

in response to your question about food ratios

I think this depends on your body type. I know that I can not get away with eating as many carbs as other people. So I keep my diet fairly moderate carb (eating trace carbs on my last 2 meals) moderate to high fat (jamming a lot of EFA's,, olive oild, flax, fish oil) and high protein. My protein usually stays around 2 grams per lb of bodweight.

I have to note too,, that I give a lot of credit to DoggCrapp,,, I have read a lot of his articles and they have influenced me to rethink things.

Thanks for your reply.

I guess what I am implying more than people are overtraining is the fact that people are using over-volume and under intensity. Too many people pussy foot their way through their workouts and nutrition.

You tell me how many sets of back you can do all out intensity if you are deadlifting with everything you have? I mean to the point of passing out, and throwing up your preworkout meal. I would say that you could not generate that kind of intensity with said weight on a body part more than once a workout. Think about it. If you deadlifted 495 for 5 all out nut grinding reps how is doing another set at 405 for 5 reps going to be more intense. To me that does not represent a further overload. You have already produced enough overload and intensity with the set of 495 to induce growth. All I am saying is leave everything you have out on the floor when you do your main work set for a body part and there is no need for further sets. To me, if you really think about it, any further sets only dip into your recovery ability. So then what is the point of doing more if you have already overloaded the muscle.

Agreed, but intensity can be obtained many ways.

Let's say someone were to attempt a one rep max 10 times in a workout, succeeding twice and failing the other eight times. Well, that would leave him wiped, but it wouldn't build much muscle.

One area in which I disagree with Dogcrap is, I believe it isn't all about increasing the weigt It's about increasing the stress. And that can be done many ways. There's a time when your muscles need to be pushed to the limit with heavy poundages and other times pumping them full of blood is best. Both are intense methods, but completely opposite in approach. Combining the two (along with a few other techniques) will bring better results than just dogmatically following one routine or the other. Also, different body types resond to different stimuli. But this is a whole other disscussion in itself.
