why does my knee hurt ...

ok, so when i bend down and put weight on my left knee, it hurts. especially bending down low. i guess i should say kneeling, not bending. even when going down stairs, i feel it. its like all around my knee. i dunno if i did it lifting or what. i dont think i did ... i only did some leg presses, extensions and curls my last leg workout (my lower back was hurting from a pulled muscle, so i omitted any squatting). so you think i should try to squat in a few days?

Do box squats...and sit way back on a box. Shins straight up and down when you squat. Don't do the leg extensions and put your feet high on the leg press platform.

no, not if there is pain or instability. one slip up and you can really do some damage.

stay off it workout-wise until its pain free.

see thats the thing ... i dunno if the pain will go. i had this before ... like before i started really lifting. it went away after a loooooong time. i think im gonna go light, work on form, box squat, like b fold suggested. thanks guys. its appreciated.

actually it may even be the hamstring curls....the hammys actually attach inferior to the kneecaps on the front of the knee....too many hamstring curls or hyperextensions or hamstring stretching to warm-up cna cause your knees to hurt. As a general principle, especially with the knees, if they hurt, don't put any stress on them. It sounds like a tendonitis, especially walking down stairs exacerbating the pain....rest, ibuprofen around the clock.

re knee

I agree with nate.. Id stay of it for a bit even if you dont think its going to go away.. Id also look at the muscle balance between your quads and ham's.. If ones overly stronger than the other then theres muscle imbalances which can lead to injurys... Also maybe you muscles are just overly tight.. I know on me when my ITB is really tight my knee really hurts and I can barely walk.. It looks like a fucking piano wire at the side of my leg....
