Why do you workout? Why do you take steroids? (Need atleast 100 replies)

This is gonna be an interesting topic..

Who do you do all this lifting, steroid and dieting for? To get pussy, to show off those gunz, to impress guys by benching 500lb etc..

Im gonna be as honest as possible.
I do it because lifting weights is in my heart, I have a passion for it, i dont do this to impress guys or girls, not in it for money, when i go out i wear a hoody (unless its summer) to cover up my body because i hate attention, I do like looking good in public but when someone look at you every second gets annoying..
Even if i could have my dream body without lifting an ounce of weight i would still workout hard and give it my all, like i always do..

So why do you guys put so much time in to this? What is the reason for all the hard work?

It is just my hobby at this point really, basically I just enjoy lifting weights. I like keeping my diet in check because for one it helps me get through my day I like the schedule and I also seeing my body change depending on what I eat, be it cutting or bulking. That being said I started lifting because I was out of shape and horrible with women so as an 18 year old(at the time) I knew that it would help me to some degree. Now 3 years later it is just part of my life.

Started when I was about 14 first reason was pussy then I seen some movie stars and was like "I want to look like that" then I just wanted to look intimidating to other guys. 21 now

NO PAIN NO GLORY!

It makes me feel good physically and makes me feel good about my self. I also work out with my husband which we both enjoy and is good for our marriage.

First and foremost I love the challenge and discipline u get from lifting. Teaches the body to fight through the pain, what a rush! Plus I wanna look good naked!!

Multiple reasons.

Physcial appearance (look good in clubs etc)
Strength (for my self)
Overall wellbeing
Vanity
Confidence

Strength and vanity (want to look good naked). Also I really dislike my job and for the time being I'm stuck in a boring small town hours from any where cool - so going in to the gym after work and lifting gives me something to do that I enjoy. It really just takes my mind off the BS of the day. Also I don't lift for women per se, but being in my 30s, its a bit easier to find a mate that is fit if I'm fit too, I would never ask something of a woman that I wasn't willing to do myself. I like anabolics just because they are fun to experiment with, I find it interesting to see how my body reacts to different compounds.

(1) So I be active into my 90s and (2) so I can feel like I did at 24 and play hard, recoup, and play harder.

I do it so no one mistakes pictures of my calves for a chick's

~EZ

I enjoy weightlifting as a sport, just like kids enjoy getting pick up basketball games together.

It's also one of the only things in life that I have complete control over, no one else.

I use aas occasionally just to really polish my physique off, when I want to look my absolute best I'll run a cycle.

to show off.

to be strong

to walk down the street and have people look at me and be impressed.

cause i am one of the leaders of this site and if i didn't workout and eat great i would be a hypocrite with the advice i give

to live as healthy as possible while alive (don't care how long i live but while alive i want to be healthy as a rock)

to get the attention of chicks, i cant stand scrawny swimmer/cycler types.. men should have muscles (this of course is not the rule but this is how i live my life, if you want to look like a skinny swimmer thats your business and i won't criticize you but nots that what i want)

so that if i am at an ATM and some guy wants to rob me he will think twice, and if he does do it i am 99% likely to be way stronger than him and he will have a bad day after i am done with him :)

I didn't start working out until my late 20’s just to try to get in shape for my job that was physically demanding and everyone else was alot younger. Well 7 years strong and still totally addicted. I love the way it makes me mentally and physically. From the insane pumps and veins busting out everywhere, too the religious routine that keeps me sane. I'm not gonna lie I do like the attention from all the women. When going swimming at the pool and taking my shirt off and getting all those looks and stares. Especially being 34yrs old and looking better than most 18yr olds. The steroids make me feel like I'm in my 20's and I love seeing the results from all the blood, sweat, tears, and money that goes into it. Great thread by the way!

I have been doing it since 1993 and its a lifestyle for me know. My hobby and interest is weight lifting and I chose this because its the only sport you can do that you can actually isolate a muscle and build it by hard work and diet and of course several compounds.

wow, so most of you guys (not all) do all this work and juice up for vanity and to show off?? Thats crazy, i guess im the only that do it for myself and could care less what some punk on the street think of me...

Steve and EZ_E are cutting up with you Iron. I have seen their posts for years and trust me, its a lifestyle for them as well. Steve has been natty for over a year and could have done numerous cycles however he chose to wait until until recently to resume. We do it because its a lifestyle , not because we are showing off..

Uh, no..."Strength & Honor" bro, iron runs through my blood...it is my life. I love lifting iron, challenging myself to lift heavier and heavier, it is the time of day where I am the happiest, it keeps my sanity in check in this fucked up world, and keeps me from unloading my rage and anger on someone, keeps me grounded. The feeling that you feel being on is euphoric, just getting that hormone the male body needs to live, be healthy and strong, and keep the lifestyle going til I'm 6' under...that is why I train, that is why I juice.

For some reason Ive always just loved to lift weights, there's a fascination for me. Every summer I would be extremely excited because I would be able to ride my bike 7 miles to the gym and lift everything in their.

When i got to 7-8th grade, I went to the local christian school, and would lift at their gym 6am every day.

9-12 grade, after school, I would spend my entire evening lifting and swimming laps at the gym

College has gotten alot more serious, and my desire for nutitional information allowed me to fully understand how to obtain my goals.

My 4th year in college I took the plunge (21years old) because I wanted to take my physique to the next level.

I am a recovering IV Heroin user and poisoned my body for 15 years with drugs and alcohol to the point where I have toured 20+ rehabs and detoxes up and down the east coast. Been clean for over a year and a half now and went from 265lbs of sloppy fat down to 220 lbs in shape. In the last 6 months after getting my diet consistent and routine in check I have managed to throw 20 lbs of muscle on. I lift hard and heavy 5 days a week and run in 2 competitive hoop leagues. Being 6'6" and 240lbs in great shape has given me confidence and helps me gain a competitive edge over most. My new addiction is self improvement. This is the best I have ever looked and felt and I am 35 years old. I do it for my self. Whatever else I get in life for being a beast are all added bonuses.

At 6'1 145 pounds, I was tired of being called bones. Never got beat up, but had shit like my pants started on fire in school aand crap like that. Guys used to hit on my girls and laugh in my face. I started lifting to spite everyone else, including uncle Same who would not let me enlist in the military. As a freshmen I suffered from a terrible knee injury which left me unable to walk for a few years and ended my sprots career. Now its just who I am and I use it to stay healthy and sober.

Why do you need 100 posts?

It's a lifestyle for me
Just like today ,i had to unload a stereo center by myself ,that would have took 3 people to do. (and i'm How old?)

I started working out at 18 and loved it. Now I do it because i still love training but also because no matter how big I get I still feel small. And we all hate feeling small dont we?

Oh yeah, and the bitches

wow, so most of you guys (not all) do all this work and juice up for vanity and to show off?? Thats crazy, i guess im the only that do it for myself and could care less what some punk on the street think of me...

my response was really about why i work out. the juicing part has nothing to do with my answer.. i was natural for 15 years before i touched juice. the most fun i had was as a powerlifter working out in my late teens and competing.. i love competition. yes its nice to be able to sit on the bench next to a 300 pound dude and out lift him. i'm a type A personality and i'm very competitive.. i want to be the best at everything i do.

and as Arabian said this is a lifestyle and if i didn't workout then i would go crazy.. its like taking a violin or piano away from a musician, or a hammer away from a carpenter, or a pan away from a chef. not gonna happen. this is why a lot of guys on the board who get injured and have to stop working out go into deep depression.

there are some guys who have circumstances where they quit on the gym for months and even years. and then come back... for me I quit on fishing for years and now I am going back to it, and i've been going on fishing forums and studying it. its kinda the same thing. there are a lot of regulars i see on the piers everytime i go there, those are the ones who excell at it and for them its a lifestyle and even a career for some who sell their fish. so for me going to the gym daily and possibly even making a career in this is wonderful

I work out because I can tell it is keeping me healthy and in damn great shape for a 50 year old, hell I know I look better and am healthier than most of my co-workers that
are waaay younger than me. Some are half my age and have let themselves go, which I try to encourage to come to the gym with me and stop eating garbage food.

dunno if you are a young guy or what but i will say its never worth it to fight someone for no reason.. if they are the aggressor/trying to rob you or threatening your family then that is one thing.. but going around knocking people out is nonsense and you will be back in jail fast and at best being sued for every penny you've got.

It is simple... because I LOVE it... I wake up in the morning and thats one of the first things I think about it... I look forward to it everyday... Its like eating and breathing to me... I can't ever get enough and its my passion... On top of that, its a sense of well-being, confidence, overall health and the women... =) I just simply love it...

Good answers everyone, i guess we all have different goals in life..

btw if you're lifting weights so you can knock people out i think you're in it for the wrong reason, lifting weights wont make you knock an mma fighter or a boxer out, it doesnt matter if you can bench 600lb or if you are a 260lb giant, you cant beat up someone who train for fighting but probably the mma fighter cant bench 500lb either, so it depends on your goals..

I'm very competitive. When I was a little kid, I had to be the first to beat super mario. Then, I had to have the hottest gf. Then, I had to have the fastest cars. So being competitive and trying to out-do others was always just wired into my brain. I started working out at around 15 years old. All throughout highschool I was probably the most built kid there. But I would see movies like Rambo 3 and Rocky 4. Or Predator. Now those were real men, not the little bitches in town who had 2 pack abs and thought they were bosses. I also knew that Arnold, Sly, and the other beasts were using AAS. Only problem was I had no idea where to get them or how to use them. So that thought was always in the back of my head but I just never could get access to it so I continued training natty.

A few years pass, I'm out of highschool. Meet an older friend who tells me I have nice size and that he used to workout back in the day too and he even competed a few times. He told me "I can show you everything about bodybuilding. How to get big and ripped. I have years and years of knowledge, both as a natural, and as a chemically enhanced bodybuilder." First time someone outright told me they used. Well he showed me the truth behind the physiques of the movie stars and the bodybuilders and what it takes to get there. Now, I was too damn scared to pin but I had the hookup and knew it was always there.

Do I do it for the ladies? Not really. Of course, female compliments always help the ego. But what actually DROVE me to get AAS was indeed a female. Actually when I met my current wife she was dating some guy who had a 6 pack abs and who claimed to be really built. He was like 160lbs but very lean and I got jealous (competitive side showing). I was so determined to look like him that I went to my friend's source (2 bit dealer) and asked him how to get ripped. He gave me 2 vials of mexican test e and 2 of winstrol. No pins, no PCT, nothing. He gave it to me and said "take 1cc every other day of each." I got home, looked at the vials...and put them away lol. Didn't know what to do with them. Months go by and my wife is no longer dating that guy but she was single and she still talked to him. I started getting pissed and jealous again so I asked my friend for help and said I needed to go on cycle. He bought the winny and test off of me and said that the dealer was just looking for an easy sale and that this shit isn't for me yet. He gave me some QV Var, 6 weeks worth, 25mg ED. I went from 178 with an outline of abs to 185 with 6 pack, full vascular arms, and a good v-taper back. Total transformation. Funny thing was, my girl never even saw me without a shirt on during this transformation. I wound up getting closer to her just because of our personalities. Funny, huh? Well after that, I just wanted to be big and strong and menacing like my idols. So I got some Test E and Deca and jumped up to 200lbs and never looked back since. Now 250 and feeling smaller than I was at 185! Truth...

Sounds like a poor excuse to me, Steroids have a bad enough rap without someone misusing them just to be a bad ass, Mark my word theres always someone badder than you,and with an attitude like that it will be just a matter of time before you run into one of them.
I'm one of the nicests guys you will ever want to meet, All of my friends i went to school with are either dead or fat coutch potatoes ,i may be 60 but my mind is still young at heart ,i like to have fun and enjoy life i can picture me still doing this into my 80's. The gym is my home away from home ,not only do i try to be an inspiration to others here but also a role model to the the young people in my community. I lost my younger brother last year at the young age of 56, so eveyday I try to make each day better by living through him.
If you've made it this far i would like to close by saying thank you Needto and Elitefitness for believing in me and making me who i am today ,and also to my friends who i have met here Ya'll are a great bunch and it has been my pleasure to know each and everyone of you, I am lucky to have this honor of calling each of you "Friend".
That is all!

Peace out!

I do it to be healthy... Workout out that is... I diet and train hard year round... Its part of my lifestyle.. I do it for attention jsut like most, but more importantly to be in shape.. I do plan on stepping on stage but im still not ready in my presonal eyes... The gear just gets me the results faster and i hate to say i like the attention.... but i dont think you should use juice unless your in great shape and unless you plan on competing... Or if you work in a field were appearance means more money like a tip oriented career... But there is a time and place for juice, and its not for everyone...

It is nice to have your children and your wife know that their father/husband is a big bad man

I forgot to mention, it is also part of my job too. I am very prone to robbery. So when the thugs come in to the store looking to start something, first thing they will spot is me being 2x their size as well as the handle to my S&W Magnum poking out of my jeans pocket. So intimidation is crucial to me as well so that I can prevent issues. It also stops the guys from looking at my girl. They know they'll get a beating lol.

Those aren't reasons WHY I am do this but they are definitely benefits.

first and most important reason: because we still live in a real world.. something most people overlook. survival of the fittest is still a reality and if anything were to happen i want to be able to protect myself and one day, my family and children..

second because its the best hobby i could ever possibly have and theres hardly anything i enjoy more than this sport.

third because i refuse to be average

its a form of meditation in alot of ways

girls liked me just as much when i was skinny.. so cant really say its for that.

I wanted to be a professional wrestler. When I was 18 someone said they could hook me up with something called test. its already in your body so you can do it indefinatley right? HA!!
My intention was to go on and never come off. I figured hey, if I gotta inject it all i need is a syringe and I can just boil it between uses and ill be all set.
Fortunatley for me that never panned out and I didnt start til i was 21 and had some reasonable guidance at the time. (still pre EF for me) Good thing cause I have no doubt I would have royally fucked my body up.
Being a huge pro wrestling fan my entire childhood and teen life I was inspired by the posters on my wall and wanted to look like them. The leigon of doom, Sid Vicious, others, but mostly it was Scott Steiner. He looked great but he had that artificial look. I am a big fan of the artificial look. I like when people look at you and go "holy shit!"
For me mostly it was all cosmetic. Sure the strength comes but I never cared about it. It was always all about the size for me. Still is. I love the sport, the lifestyle, even the pain in the ass that is constantly preparing food.
I was out for 17 mos with shoulder issues up until 6-8 weeks ago and realized how much i always took this shit for granted.
So at 18 i would have royally fucked up my life. now 18 years later Im glad I waited. Am glad that shortly after my first cycle I found EF. You young guys have no idea how good you have it, having a tool like EF around. Theres a reason I have been here 11 years!!!

Alot of great responses in this thread. For me it is all about the look. I love the look of a bodybuilder and work very hard daily to attain it. I am very competitive as well and if I am going to compete in something then I want to be the best. That is where the juice comes in. All my life I worked out in some shape or form. Martial Arts and soccer. I was in great shape but never had the size and look of a BBr. I messed around with AAS mainly test c, when I was 21 and thought I was swole but all I really was was water weight and bloat from too much test. That and not knowing wtf I was doing. Finally I made it my goal to get there no matter what the cost. I started studying and lifting and eating right. After several years of doing this I found EF and started really getting down to the bare bones of how to properly use AAS as a tool to get where I want to be. Now I am 40yrs old and look better than most guys half my age. I have fought through injuries that have required surgery and many other roadblocks. However none of these stopped me from chasing the dream. I will be competing in the Masters division NPC. Alot of hardwork, money and dedication later I am actually starting to like what I see. Oh yeah and alot of damn juice. AAS to me is not cheating. I have to work harder, eat better, and get the proper amount of rest or it is all for nothing. The discipline it takes to do these things, along with the sacrifices made, is not easy. But nothing worth having ever is.

Damn good pics bro. Whats your cycling like, how long you been training etc?
Im 37 so getting up there myself

Hey thanks bro! I am 41, I'm on PCT from a small Epi-Strong cycle, and am planning my next cycle in June...Test C/EQ with a Dieselbolan kickstart, and am trying to plan it so I can run it close to a competition, most likely the San Fransisco in October...the last AAS cycle was in 2007, so it has been a while...it should be fun. I am a dad and husband so family took priority for a few years, now it's my turn! Been training for 18 years give or take, love it...need it! How about you bro...you compete?

when it comes to competing in local shows, do some of these guys just cycle? or do they all pretty much blast and cruise?
