Why am I so goddamn tired?

Burning_Inside

I get on average 8-9 hours of sleep of night and when i wake up, I feel like a truck hit me. I'm sometimes sore, and always dead tired. If I sleep like 10 1/2-11 hours i seem to be ok. But god man, I can't sleep that much everyday and adhere to a schedule, that's something I can get away with if I don't have a job. I mean I get up at 8 am for work, and I work usually till 4. So say theres 8 hours there devoted to work. The whole gym process takes about 2 hours, with going there and working out and talking and showering and eating and whatever. So there's 10 hours, and with 9 hours of sleep, there's 19-20 hours on average gone. This means I have toughly 4 hours left in the day to shit shave piss and do whatever else I want. If I don't go to the gym , theres 6 hours. Woo boy. As you can imagine, 4 hours average a day to have to yourself (I don't include gym time as time to myself, that's more like a job than free time to me, not because I don't like it, but because I just gotta do it.) isn't something that will make you jump for joy, and it really depresses me knowing I have too much to keep up with that I simply can't fit in in that 4 hours left to myself., It mentally drains me, and to get more sleep in there, well if I were to do it, I'd probably end up just killing myself cause my life would seem like one huge constant rollercoaster of work, sl;eep work sleep, moreso than it is now. To me there's no point in living if, well, you can't "live". Anyway, what i want to know is, is there anything I can take that will actually make me feel refreshed after say 7 or 8 hours of actual sleep? I mean I drink the water, i take the multivitamins, hell I got into working out because I thought it would give me more energy and not make me sleep as much, but it had the direct opposite effect. O well, anyone have any ides on wht the hell my problems is?

recovery

Hey man....
First off I dont know what kind of routine your doing but if you changed your training split you'd prob get more time out of the gym. I can normally get out in under 1 hour.. F@#$ the social talk while your there, as you said your there to work... One more idea is maybe try a recovery sup like ZMA... You normally take it before bed and it helps you sleep and cant remember if it gives a natural boost of testorone or not.... go to www.netrition.com theyll have what your looking for and good prices...

well the social talk is done either before or after my routine, and i dont mind it cause these people are my buds and you have to put time into your friends anyway. Also I want to make it known that this didnt come after i started working out, it happened as a teen that i started needing all this sleep, and blood tests showed nothing, sleep clinic didnt really show anything, they said maybe i was just depressed or it was just a "teen thing". All I do know is that I'm sick of it.

Hey bro I am a lot like you. I need 9 to feel right, I can get by on 8 1/2 but anything less and I don't feel right. Always been like that since I was a kid.

I really understand where you're coming from. Sometimes I have to make a conscious decision to forsake fun or TV or reading to get the sleep I need. At some point you have to decide to make that sacrifice to achieve the goals you desire. The thing that kills me is food preparation. I have to prepare like 7 meals a day and sometimes I find myself staying up late making food for the next day.

Also I have a theory: I think certain types of people, especially smart ones, need extra sleep. I know that my mind is always working and I always notice stuff that gets by other people and I make connections most other people don't. Basically my mind works harder than the average person's so it needs extra time off. I know there are thers like this so count yourself among the lucky few!

Anyway as far as supplements if for some reason I don't get a good night's sleep high doses of B vitamins can get me through the day with little productivity lost. Caffeine also helps :) but that can lead to a downward spiral where I take it too late which causes me to stay up later which makes me need it again the next day etc. So I use it sparingly.

I also agree with vigorous, go for short but intense workouts, you can save a lot of time but still grow.

Good luck

I don't mean to pick on you joncrane...but I don't really agree with this statement....I get about 2-3 hours of sleep average per day....and I don't exactly consider myself dumb....lol.

Burning_Inside, what type of diet are you currently on? Many times people that are on low-carb or ketogenic diets feel drained for energy, simply because of the carbohydrate void. Also are you currently using any type of E/C/A product...and if so are you cycling them?
And one more question for you...when you do sleep...is it a good restful sleep or do you toss and turn all night and frequently wake up? I say this because it is not always the quantity of sleep that you get that is important but the quality.

My diet has changed tons of times since my teen years. My workouts have changed tons of times. I really cannot link any of those 2 to my energy levels. I've used ECA, never seemed to make a difference. I dont know what goes on when I sleep, all I know is that I sleep, I dream, I wake up, and I'm tired as shit.

Hello Burning......... I didn't start feeling that way until I started using the eca stack. It really dehydrates your body which may cause some of the soreness and of course it does mess with how much sleep you get or don't get. When I take a week off from working out and stop using the eca, about the 3rd day I feel normal again. Hope this is of some help.

I have no idea what the deal is, im just going to say that i'm just more naturaly tired than most people and my circadian cycle is permafucked.

goddayamn toga, 2-3 hours on average per day? shit, I thought i was pushing it at 4-6 per day. at least on day per week, I will sleep around 10-12 hours.

burning inisde-maybe you aren't hydrate enough. if whatever you are taking is DEhydrating you, then you must replenish. after starting to take my water bottle with me everywhere, I am more vigorous. just a thought.

Relax, take zero stimulants, don't train for a few days...and have fun.
