Whobbling when doing curls

When doing hammer curls for the biceps with dumbells – is it ok to move a bit the body? You are supposed to stay still, but I do see pro-bodybuilders moving their body a bit to help lift the dumbell....
 
Ideally, you should not move your body – this way you will isolate the muscle more, improving the effectiveness of the exercise. Also, it is said so in order to prevent injuries – those unexperienced may get injuries by moving too much. Also, the fact that you need to help yourself with the body means that the weight is excessive for you. Don't look all that much at pro-bodybuilders, as they push themselves to extreme limits, and they try to get the benefits of the negative reps, rather than positive.
 
I'd agree in part with Lev here. If the aim is to build muscle keep it strict. Only move a little on the last few super hard reps to break down the muscle.
 
if you are talking about youtube videos with juiceheads lifting you have to remember that is all for show. it is basically get a big pump and vascularity and show off the to camera. their workouts aren't all about jacking themselves off in front of the mirror

the truth is i built my biceps not from standing in front of the mirror doing curls, but from pullups and rows. that is the dirty secret. the only reason i do the mirror thing is so i can mire myself

it is so annoying seeing these guys with 11" arms doing curls in front of the mirror. SMH. until you actually have a bicep to show off, you need to go do the compound lifts first

100%. Less weight with better technique will give you MUCH better results in the long run.

Remember that your goal when weight training is to stimulate muscles. You aren't moving weights from a to b. How much weight you use is basically irrelevant. The weights are just a tool to stimulate the muscle.
