Who works out 2x a day????

well...

Ok... SO basically y r saying 2 times a day training is bad??? But lets assume that I have enough time to train and eat all day... and nothing else... Would doing Legs in the morning and arms in the evening be a good split... I run into the problem that In our packed weight room it takes for ever to get in a true work out... so it takes an hour to do JUST one muscle group... and leaves no time for other... for example... at one time we did Back and then Bi's... but by the time I was done with back we had already been there a good hour and a half... And recently I've been reading a lot about the increase of cortisol (a catabolic) in the body after about an hour...
so I was thinking if I did back in the morning, and came back to do arms later that evening, then I could keep the same work out plan, and routine, and really work my muscles at the same time...
ALSO... my class schedule allows for several days that are totally free.... and several that are packed full...
would I be doing more harm than good by trying this... or should I just take 2 weeks to work the entire body?

I've found training twice per day to be very productive, and I don't use steroids or supplements. It's all about training INTELLIGENTLY!Keep your workouts short, eliminate any superfluous exercises, pay strict attention to diet(especially post-workout) and you can gain from this type of training.
Strength-just read your comment above and by your own admission you spend half a day in the gym when you train? If training twice in one day would equate training all day, then a single session is training for half a day?Is that what you are saying?Anybody that trains for that long will obviously overtrain. My two a day sessions last no more than 30 or 35 minutes each.Even including warming up and cooling down, I'm in the gym for 90 minutes max.I watch my son all day and carry a full load of school as well. And my progress has been great.

twcie a day,
Hmmmm lifting twice a day woulde destroy my body, but working out twice a day wouldn't be that bad. Everyday it too much on any routine I think. IF you lift weights though once a day is plenty, only some fine toning stuff for the second workout and some cardio. Even if you could sit down and just eat your body has natural limits to recuooperation, you really can't get 2 intese workout in a day. I know that I'm not a kid anymore, and I want size.

Poliquin has said in the past that if your goal is neural strength, two a days should be performed working the same bodypart twice in one day.If your goal is hypertrophy, two a days should be performed working different bodyparts at each session, which sounds like what you are planning on doing.Whatever you do, keep an eye on the clock. The shorter your training sessions are, the better.I especially like them for leg days as you can focus on, say quads and hips in the morning, then come back and hit hamstrings and low back in the evening.Or, in your case, you could hit lats in the morning and come back in the evening to hit chest.Whatever you do, just use your head. Also, you may feel quite fatigued the first couple of times you try them. You'll get acclimated soon enough. It's just like any other training technique. The first time I tried drop sets on squats, I thought I was going to die.Just took some mental preparation and time for the muscles to get acclimated to the stress.

too bad I don't have it so easy. Class and work cut into much of my lifting time. But I guess someone must have the time.

I have tried the 2x a day split and found that my 2nd workout was never as strong as wanted becouse I was just to tired from my first. Maybe I wasnt eating enough or something but I never in there for more than an hour on my first session. But yes, It does work for some people, Give it a try....
