I do. Mainly out of laziness on my part. Not much free time, and it's practically next door. (Then again, i'm the same guy who makes quick grocery runs to Walgreen's instead of fighting the grocery store crowd.)

Wife says i'm lazy... I call myself a "Convenience Afficionado".. which clearly costs me more!

U guys have me thinking, though. Maybe it's easier to order online and have it delivered to the house.

Well, still working there 9 months later and it has enhanced my knowledge of nutrition, I am a certified nutrition and wellness consultant and believe in all natural especially bodybuilding/dietary supplements and the proper nutrition. Anyone interested in the latest technology in liquid all in one vitamin/mineral? Great for energy, cholesterol levels, helps balance hormones, even after a cycle, great company. Email me at [email protected]. Connie Allen

I do not think GNC is a 'rip off' store. Running any outlet (especially in a mall) requires a ton of overhead and that is why thier prices are through the roof.

This does not mean I would shop there. Educated shoppers know we can get our stuff online for a hell of a lot less.

In the good old days, before the internet, GNC was the only place around in my area that carried decent supplements - most places wouldn't carry it. For that I give them respect. Their business model is now outdated though - the internet is king.

Guilty ... but usually only if I'm out of something (i.e. food, I'll go buy a ton of shakes if I'm traveling or something) & it's an emergency (Multi's, Digestive Enzyme, etc.)

Plus I still have that Gold Card thing so I ended up saving more than I would have if I ordered online, & I had it RIGHT then, not waiting for it to be delivered.

GNC is a joke

GNC stands for.....Gonna need cash if you want to shop here and lots of it. Biggest rip off store ever

If GNC is soo bad, which isn't really when u have a Gold Card and go the first week of every month adding 20% off.... Where else is there to go to get Aminos, Anabolics, creatines and proteins?

I buy my ON Dbl Choc Whey there because it's the cheapest place in town to get it. Other than that I don't buy much there.(There's only 3(?) places in town that sell ON whey.)

Why is cost even an issue here....GNC price matches. If I need something in a hurry I just go in with a print-off of SND or Popeyes online prices and they match em every time.

I use some of their stuff... but a good friend I used to wrestle with is the store manager and he hooks me up at his price... and on gold card week I can walk out with a couple bags of supplies for cheap... I'm not saying go there... unless you got a friend there... and maybe I shouldn't be saying that because he just hired me for some part time hours!! hahha!!

Exactly..GNC now matches internet prices, WITHOUT the shipping fees. The only limit is they usually don't carry the cutting edge stuff, but for protein and creatine, why not use 'em.

I'm new to fitness, lifting, and these forums. I bought one of their gold cards a couple motnhs ago; I use it to by EAS Myoplex, Hydroxycut, and most recently Cell-Tech. By the sound of it, I'm wasting ym time and money.

Anyone have a link(s) to these sites that apparently offer everything much cheaper?

I am still employed at GNC part time and they do have some excellent products and it does pay to get the gold card to save 20% and now they have www.gnc.com to review. They will soon be getting ephedra back, not as much as before, but it is coming back soon.

I shop Musclemag International, there is one 30 miles from my house. No one, I mean NO ONE can beat their prices. Also buy online through AF store. They have some great stuff, reasonable price with ef discount, and shipping is pretty fast.

Actually...
The best thing about GNC may be their return policy. 30 days with a receipt no matter how much of the product you have used. I strongly suggest taking advantage of this when trying something new. That way if the product doesnt' live up to the hype you can get your money back. When you find something you like order it online like everyone else.

In the U.K, we don't have many alternatives..... GNC pretty much have the market cornered here. Prices aren't too bad.

I guess im still one of the retards that shops at GNC. Is the problem with GNC that their products suck ball sacks or just over priced? Or even both? If the products are junk, what brand of whey is the best?

I still shop there on gold card week. about every other month mainly just to try new products because they have the money back garentee. but normally I just shop online because it is a whole lot less expensive.

I shop there to get my supplements NOW and when I want them. I dont wait for the mail, I spend extra just to get the product when I want it

GNC's multi sucks!! Also known as "Mega-Men"

Alot of people say, "multis are multis or vitamins are vitamins"
This is not really true. It depends on how they make the product. You may not be absorbing much of the values they show on the bottle.

hmm i only buy the weight gain from there when its on sale and with my gold card on top of it so i get the 6lb tubs or what ever they weight for like 15-20$ a piece. If anyone knows a cheaper better place please inform me.

GNC SUCKS! I worked their and they always wanted us to screw people! Even their multi vitamins suck. They put 200mcg of b12 in them to make you feel energized so people think their really working. Nature's Plus, Enzymatic therapy, natural factors....those are good vitamins. The franchised GNC i worked for paid 3$ for the vitamins that we pay 17$ for.....they make them by the millions in china, like the rest of their crap. 16% of the entire business sales are from their crappy multi vitamins because they push it. I started to order my stuff from http://nsihealth.com i found that they have good vitamins and some goos muscle buolders. Supposable their sposed to be adding tons of stuff like bodybuilding.com anyway, yes they also tried to target older people. My manager would "teach" me about the products....after i did my own research I found he was lying and did know shit, he was just trieng to sell things so his pay check would be bigger (they get bonuses and incentives like most jobs)....They have a program that the entre company does called "Build the brand"......stay away from GNC!

There is NOTHING good about GNC...Their return policy is decent and I hope everyone screws them by using up all their products and then returning them. They deserve it!

Hey man....restock your ISO ABG, then! :)

sure that AF would like to do that, but davisco is not selling and until they start producing isolate again or a comparable isolate comes up (have not been able to find anything over 93 (davisco is 98). No dice.

If you go into detail with GNC products you will find that they are all syntheticly made....any claims of herbs or foods they put in their vitamins may be "natural" but are not "Organic". Meaning that some type of pestacide or synthetic chemical was most probably used in the making. GNC protein causes alot of people to bloat up, gives gas....my explanation to that would be that they are not digesting the protein, and the protein is not all absorbing peoperly meaning that the money paid for their protein is being wasted and not being used by the body....The body is rejecting it. But it is 1. Made in china in mass quantitys, so that makes it cheaper, and 2 it seems people these days like to give their money to china......In short, IF IT HAS A GNC LABEL YOU ARE BUYING SHIT FROM CHINA TO KEEP A COMPANY THAT ONLY CARES ABOUT PROFIT IN BUSINESS.Thats no good for you, no good for me and no good for you and no good for america.

Thats not true....you know the tests to see if steroids are real? They do the same tests witheveryother type of study but comparison....I have seen studys showing then when a gnc product was compared with the real one....it was not comaratable....it was a fraud.

actually not exactly.

there are 8 (4 tocopherol and 4 tocotreinol) variants of vitamin E, there are a number of vitamin A derivatives (alpha, beta, etc carotenes). there is calcium ascorbate, ascorbic acid, as well as other forms.

I buy stuff at GNC just cuz I get a 30% discount the first week of every month just for being a membet at my gym

does the 30% make up for the fact that your STILL buying SHIT?....if you want shitty products like "Pro Performance Cool guy supplements" because you get 30% off, go to wal-mart and buy their shit for regular price stuff that is about 30% cheaper then your 30% off and you get the same shit!

I get my Optimum Nutrition whey at GNC... with 20% off it is only about $1 more per 5 lbs than I have found the cheapest price online.

I'm friends with the guy that works at my local store and he gives me free issues of all the new magazines too. He hooks me up on other shit too, so I cant complain :)

i only get protein powder from there

Optimum Nutrition is descent protein, although I find it funny that they can keep it that cheap with their protein blend, isolate is a pricy protein type and they have it mixed in as one of the protein blends for the Gold Standard Whey. Another thing, Optimum Nutrition used to be a distributor, then they went into creating their own supplements, they were competition of BOSS, and Europa, but i would much rather see somone taking ON then the GNC proteins, GNC protein (Pro Performance Line) are really bad, the cholestrol in their weight gainers are really high, their proteins taste like garbage, and the absorption is tarable, your body wont even use most of the protein you take in, do to the digestion process.....Thats how they get you, they dont put digestive enzyme in some of their proteins, instead they willtell you to get a digestive enzyme from their line.....I personally really like Isopure, Nitro-Tech is pretty good, BSN is cool, and ofcoarse MET-RX, and Myoplex are good proteins, and theirs a couple moe good ones that i cant think of now.

I stopped going there for supplements. I started talking to one of the guys who worked there and he basically said don't bother. He sent me to an awesome shop near Vassar College (I live in upstate NY). They basically had a greater selection and much better prices. Plus the guys who work there are built and compete so they have actual experience with weight lifting. That really helps. PLUS, the GNC near me is pretty small.

I stopped shopping at GNC when I was like 18 or 19 when I found supplement stores on line and found out I can buy twice the amount of products for the money GNC charges.

ah, the GNC employees who know better , and tell the truth will tell you to go somewhere else.....ive heard a couple employees tell their costumers to go somewhere else at GNC.....I ust to when i worked their too.....Their are lots of smaller nutrition stores who have people who work their, and usually own the stores who are experts, and compete....I like those types of stores, cause they get good products, and are usually knowledgable, and help you out......If you ask me, if im going to pay retail price, i better get some damn good advice and info from the store.....GNC you pay retail, and they usually dont know their ass from their B12!

Ok, so I'm reading through this thread, and everyone is clamoring about going online.

Going online where? Seriously, I don't know better I suppose, and have shopped at GNC for years.

Anyone want to point me in the right direction?

i went in gnc the other day for shits and giggles , wanted to see what they were charging for no xplode , what a joke they want 64 dollars...lol i get it for half that online...

I'll be honest with you fellas, I work at a GNC and I am one of those "employees that know better"... I will be damned to screw/con people out of their $$ on things such as NO-Explode, etc... Sometimes, and again, SOMETIMES, we are cheaper than online prices because the GNC I work at is on a military base and have military discounts. But if I know of certain prices for certain products that ARE cheaper online, I will def tell them to get it offline and name off a few sites for them to go to. Another LOOKOUT for those of you who DO shop at GNC.... GNC employees get commission off of certain products.... So if you KNOW what you want when you go into a store and they start "suggesting" or showing you something "similar", it's for the dough.... Just lookin' out for the goodfellas...

I shop at musclemag, got one right by my house. GNC can't touch their prices and neither can anyone else.

Literally,FUCK GNC
they are so overpriced they shouldn't be in business

many years ago, before I found a wholesale supplement company online I too used to get ripped off by those assholes.

i pick up stuff there when i dont have time to wait. I will roll but there in the morning and pick up some protien and fish oil.

So a couple people posted in this thread about GNC price matching online stores, and I got a little bit excited. Then I went to GNC's site to confirm, and I found nothing. So I asked them, and I received the following e-mail in response:

to me 11:58 am (11 hours ago)

Dear Customer,

GNC does not price match against online retailers. I apologize for any inconvenience.

GNC Customer Service,

John

You guys got my hopes up for nothing =( haha
Maybe some do? Or maybe they only do if it's the online store of an actual, physical retailer (another nutrition chain like GNC)

Go to http://www.Bodybuilding.com Cheap prices and very reliable.

go to http://www.massnutrition.com/

Just do a search for the products your after and check a few sites.

I fail at the internet, and thus, am still shopping at gnc. I'm too lazy to make my own shakes, so I do the Muscle Milk rtd's twice daily. I also get a few Redline Energy drinks for my pre-workouts every week as well, AND I do animal stack for my multi.

Come to think of it, I'm almost out of Glutamine, I'll have to pick some up this weekend as well. And Next weekend I'll be out of l-arginine.

Gar. Maybe I should do a better job searching on the internet.

I go to EJ's Discount Supplements located in Hawthorne, N.Y. They are right down the street from a GNC and they beat GNC's prices all month. The owners are a former NFLer and a Competitive BBer. They both know alot of shit regarding training and nutrition.

In New York there are GNC and Vitamin Shoppes and there's no comparison --VS has much better prices. GNC has a few more bullshit bodybuilding supps but I don't buy that junk. I obviously use Protein Factory products for real bodybuilding applications. And there are a few others online that are good.

I only get my multi's there. Best quality that I found so far..

try Nature's Plus vitamins...Made in the US, all the same butrients as GNC but are realised in a better timing manner. Also they put whole food concentrates in them. Best off all the FDA does random testing on them. They pay the FDA 1.5 million per year for random testing for accuracy. They use 100% natural AND organic whole foods and compunds in their multi vitamins. I believe they have been ranked number 1 as far as multis for the last 5 years. Best of all they are about the same price as GNC's multis.

GNC buys their vitamin powder in china...im not sayin chinease powders ar bad, but I dont think you should take a multi vitamin made with such low standards and produce so much at a time.

gnc has more people going there then are admitting here... they match ANY price and they take stuff back even half full if not satisfied so how many others do this?

they match prices off the net?

they're good during the 1st week every month when they have that huge discount.

best price for some companies like pure proteins line - way overpriced on others

Only when I have too. Too expensive.

I worked there in college and liked it. I get 30% off now. And working in a franchise, i was aloowed to go to 30%off.

bro, why dont you change your post to something that doesnt demonstrate ignorance.

My friend owns a local GNC franchise, so the experience for me is quite different. I get alot of the basics there, and use the Internet for the niche stuff. I almost get Internet pricing on the basics from my friend's store...the difference between franchise and corporate owned.

My uncle is a regional representative for GNC. I get all my creatine and protein there for chep as hell. Me gusta!

the gnc performance protein is really THAT BAD?

I can't believe what I'm reading here.

I don't buy from GNC Mexico because they are overpriced, but GNC USA is like a heaven for me.
Anytime a friend goes shopping to Texas I ask them for some supplements, mostly protein and glutamine.

I can't buy online because the shipping is way to expensive, and little retailers here ask too much for supplements.

Anything I buy from GNC USA is at least 60% cheaper than other places, so I like the place

I don't see why GNC is still around? The Vitamin Shoppe rocks! It's way cheaper, plus you accumulate points at the end of the year for free goodies!

GNC has a lot of overhead- that's why it costs what it does. I worked there. Instead of having a few mega regional warehouses that UPS ships directly to consumer- ala mail order- GNC gotta pay for transport to all stores, tractor truck expenses, driver expenses. And their liberal return/refund policy... And wala- you get extremely high prices. Only way they can turn a profit. Their motive is not to fuck the consumer, they just do what they gotta do to make a profit, considering their business model. Haven't bought anything there in over 10 years, and don't plan on it anytime soon.

I ran out of glutamine and ran out to the local GNC - what normally goes for less than $40 on the net for most major brands (irontek, ON, etc) was $80 something fucking dollars GNC store brand

I told the guy it was a joke and left lol

Yeah i will shop there occasionally only to use their product and before the return policy is up ill return the unused portion and get a full refund!!!!!!!

thats what i usally do if i want to try a new product and don't want to spend my money on it in case i don't like it

GNC prices have come down (at least in my area). I just bought ON 100% Whey 5lbs for $39.99. Not to far off from internet prices. Its the only thing I buy there so I am not sure about supp pricing but the protein price is good and I don't have to pay shipping.

what i do is take magazine adds from other companies or print the deal out, take it to GNC and they will match the price. ive dont it like 3 times when i run out of shit and dont wanna wait 2 days lol only thing is they make u rip the page out of your magazine but who cares
