I wouldn't be surprised if women lie more, but I think it's largely because they're trying to spare the feelings of another person(most of the time). Men's lies are usually because they're trying to hide something they did or didn't do (helping out their ego).

Weather it's a man or a woman, being a liar is the one trait that I dislike most in a person and I can't be friends with a liar. Without trust, what kind of relationship can you have with a person?

According to what I am learning in Interpersonal Communications... women lie a lot more than men do. Studies have shown that women try to maintain their "lady-like" status and hide a lot of their personal things in the "closet" and never tell anyone. Men tend to be out in the open about many things because they could care less what the world's opinion of them is.

Women are supposed to be a lady and if they did not lie about their past as well as the things that they do in the present...they would NOT appear to be lady like.

Of course...this is all comming from my Interpersonal Communications professor. She definately is an interesting one:).

i'll echo widelat here, i think women tend to lie about bigger things, men will lie about the little things

I was going to post something similar. I think that women are more likely to lie, for this reason and as someone else posted, to save someone's feelings.

In addition, of course, to all the reasons why human beings (male or female) lie.

i brought this girl home and then the other day she put a van shake on my widnow of my car.so i saw her in school and i was screaming at her "y the fuck did you put that shit on my car"


her responce was "hey i dont even know what your car looks like "
 
Women. Sometimes they don't realize it, but it's the emotional view of life that drives some of the "questionable" statements and what not. I love 'em and enjoy their company more than men is almost every situation, but they can be quite trying at times.

I think it's equal. I have a friend name Dirt that should lie professionaly for a living. Shit, he should go to work for the cia or government with the smoke screens he throws.

But, one of the most discreet, secretive, plotting, outright liars I know is a girl, she helped form me in to the asshole I am today.
 
While women may lie more, men definately hold all the power, money and stroke in the world... so, it's an even trade off. ;)
