Who Carries a Gun?

oubeta

Well-known member
Just wondering if I'm the only gun nut on the board. I have a concealed carry permit so it is legal for me to carry one. What do you carry, if it is legal for you to do so?

In Oklahoma you have to be 23 and no felonies and pay a $125 tax and your a regular John Wayne..

i am a big man
(yes i am)
and i have a big gun
got me a big old dick and i
i like to have fun
held against your forehead
well i'll make you suck it

me and my fucking gun
me and my fucking gun
me and my fucking gun

thank you, trent reznor.

We have concealed carry in Oregon, but it's so safe hear I don't think it's necessary. It's interesting to note that the most dangerous places don't allow it. ie NY, Baltimore, DC, etc... I guess the leftists are afraid of a minority blood bath.

They are afraid that the innocent people may actually be able to defend themselves and kill some poor underprivelaged minority criminals.

I used to until I pulled it on a guy. decided it was time to either quit carrying or frequenting places where a gun may be needed. It would be too easy for me to squeeze the trigger in certain situations.

I've been carrying my G17 since 1995. Only had to pull it out twice. Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

So you are saying you would have been killed or assaulted twice since 1995? Pretty rough area?

The automatic G17?!

When I was doing bodyguard/security work, I carried, with permit. I had a permit to carry in all of the New England states except Maine. I just let them expire because I don't need to carry in my normal day to day life as I'm not doing security anymore. I figure if I'm going to get robbed on the street, there's a lot better chance of getting myself shot if I go for a gun than if I just give up my wallet. If the person robbing you has a gun, he's probably going to walk up on you with it out, so unless you're Wyatt Earp or Doc Holiday, I wouldn't try to outdraw them. You will most likely lose, and maybe lose your life. If the person is trying to rob me at knifepoint, and they're not VERY talented with that knife, god help them. As far as home protection goes, I have many guns, but only one is within easy reach, and even it is locked in one of those combo safes with the finger buttons that you can access in the dark. I'm not one of those dumbasses that leaves a gun in my dresser so the kids can get to it.

I was thinking just the opposite. I thought, "That sounds about average."

I live in the country. My biggest threat is getting bit by a rabid coyote.

Yea.....confrontations are pretty common in the big cities. I've done enough touristing to know why people feel the need to carry. In Miami, I had three punks closing in on me saying, "Thats a nice camera around your neck." It was 12:30AM. I guess they expected me to give them stuff or run or whatever. I ran right into the first guy and they didn't pursue the aggression. Got lucky I'm sure.

Never had to use mine, but I like knowing that I have it when I'm out at night in the city. My uncle was in Luby's in Texas and a guy drove his truck throught he window and shot and killed I think over a dozen people. He had his permit but left the gun in the truck along with three others. If one of them would have had their gun they could of saved a lot of lifes. Point is you never know when you will need it so it's best to carry it everywhere. Chances are you will never need it.

One secnod you looze posts and then the next second the smile faces dont work. Is my compuetr fucked again or is this the workout bord for super genuses or what?

If its the compuetr then I bet my fuckin puny manger is recking it. He stops me from drinking boozeat work so now i Have to put it in my shake. Have you ever tasted gin in a starwbary proten shake? I thogt it would taste like a shirly temple or a fresca or something but it tastes more like strawbary piss LOL!!

But its the way to go bros! Now i get drunk and stacked at the same time. I love booze and gin.

When i first go tmy S&W 9mm I took it everywhere. Now i hardly ever carry it.

S&W is a traitorous, stinking shithole of a corporation.

It is illegal to own a gun, even shotgun in the city limits even though Chicago blew past NY in homicides last year.

You fuckers need to move to Texas if you want to carry a gun. Our gun laws are always going to be legal to carry, if you can feel what Im saying.

I never leave home without mine. Never had to pull it though. I hate some of these people that will pull theirs just to try to intimidate you by saying "Hey, I have a gun." Well budy, if you pull it, you damn sure better shoot me, cause if you dont, you will be carrying that gun around up your ass.

I usually carry a .357 magnum or more preferabbly a Desert eagle. There both hand cannons but that's the way I like them. If I m going into a rough area I will usually take the Desert and put a .38 snubby in my sock.

Soon, very soon. There are some that I would like to get the opportunity to use it on. I am very pissed off right now.

i pack so much heat that solar flares are shooting out from me sort of like that cartoon character in dragonball z (or i think). i am ready for WWIII at any moment, just say when.

ok, we can't carry cause we live in nj, if we did then most of us would have killed each other off on the road while driving

My brother has a friend that shot and killed 2 ghetto hoodlums with a shotgun. They tried to steal his truck. When they approached him, He shot the fuckers thru the window. Don't fuck with Texas rednecks.

I USED TO CARRY ONE ILLEGALLY ALL THE TIME WHEN I WAS YOUNG. I'LL GET ANOTHER HANDGUN AND PERMIT TO GO WITH IT SOONER OR LATER. I JUST DONT HAVE THE TIME RIGHT NOW TO DO ALL THE CERTIFICATION SHIT. NOT TO MENTION I HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO WITH MY CASH RIGHT NOW.

THAT BABY DESERT EAGLE IS ON MY LIST THOUGH. PHAT ASS GUN.

DID HE GET CHARGED WITH ANYTHING? I WOULD THINK THAT WOULD BE ILLEGAL IF HE JUST SHOT THEM CUZ THEY APPROACHED HIM (OR DID THEY HAVE GUNS ALSO?).

THAT BEING SAID, I WOULD HAVE DONE THE SAME THING.

Jesus all you carry??? We are talking not about owning but carrying, do you all really pack? Heck I own 2 good ol huntin rifles and a pistol, but I don't carry, I always feel like its too much responsibility. Yeah call me a coward. I live in a very safe area though, last murder in a 30 mile radius was in the 1930's, we had like 1 armed robbery in the past 5 years (that includes mugging)

Same here on the mood.

Depending on the weather too because some have size

Glock 30 (45)
Sig 228 (9)
Colt Defender (45) - don't like the cock and lock over my cock! -
38 5 Shot Smith in the jeans pocket sometimes

I will be carrying a Glock 23 most likely.

Can anyone else recommend a nice and RELIABLE .40 ?
Thanks

You can't carry in California, sorry.
You get a permit if:
You're a registered PI
Off-duty cop
Have a TS clearance

Anyone ever cosider sawing a barret .50 cal rifle down as far as you can go and putting on a pistol grip in place of the butt? That would be phat. But you would need really strong ass wrists.

The Barrett rifle already has a pistol grip. You'd be better with a Remington 870 Police Magnum loaded with slugs or even a FN P90 5.7mm if you really want a bordy armor hunter.

What else works for passing through body armor? I got this cop next door j/k lol

Any .223 FMJ will fly through.
Body armour or BPV are for pistol or fragmentation.

And I ask myself,Why am I telling you this?

Is the .223 able to pass through body armor because of it's high velocity? If this were the case then a 7.62 with lower velocity would not but I know that a 7.62 would. So the larger the round (basically anything larger than average pistol caliber) is armor defeating?

I need to know soon, I am gonna go into the bell tower above the cop shop in an hour. Just kidding!

My Favorite Carry Weapons:

H&K USP 40 Compact
Walthers PPKS .380

Concealed carry permit and with exception to work I am rarely without one of them.

Vests only slow rifle bullets down on exit :)

Level II and III are not made for rifle rounds. They are too damn fast with too much punch. A vest can stop a shotgun slug but you pretty much die from truama.

You really don't find criminals wearing vests unless they are pros. Then again, they'll be hitting something more organized than the basic "stick em up" type crimes.

For they guy with the Q about the 40. Sig and Glock seem to be the most reliable, and I have a shit load of guns. Mostly older stuff and some newer toys. The wife keeps buying them too. I can't shoot her custom mauser 7mm Mag without a shoulder pad on! I think she beats me in guns by half a dozen or so.

Velocity and energy. Most vests are only rated to stop .357 or even .44 cals. The key word is stop, the bullet may not enter you but you could die from the hydrostatic shock or a broken rib driven into your lungs.(And it's happened.Yes their very powerful handguns but they aint shit compared to rifle cartridges.

A riffle bullet will go through a level I, IIA, II, IIIA, cause these are "soft body armor". Level III and IV are rather plates that you place inside your jacket. They can usually stop .223 and many others. IV will also stop armor piercing bullets.

What can you use to defeat a soft body armor among pistol calibers ? A desert Eagle .50AE, a good .357 mag. is always worth the try, a 105 gr. 9mm AP, a 40 gr. THV 9mm, at some point a .357 sig.,

but look, dont waste your time, just go for the head instead.

Rough  :FRlol:

I'd be happy if I coudl bank on only one incident every four years.

Just a bit curious, how difficult is it for criminals to get a gun?

it's easier for them. They get their guns on the black market. There you can either buy them or simply rent one for a night.

I own several guns of various natures, some I can not admit to owning due to laws here ,but I never carry anything anywhere unless I am going hunting

I live in Alabama and have a conceiled carry permit...All it requires is the $20 license fee and not felonies on record...LOL and i think that is even up to debate in this state.. My carry weapon of choice is a Colt Defender .45 caliber with 200 grain GoldDot +P ammo.. Soon to be in my arsenal will be a Taurus Raging Bull 454 with a 6.5 inch barrel...

used to......my permit expired...gotta renew that.

Smith and Wesson 5906 9mm, Nickel Plated....10 round magazine filled with Hydrashocks....

i wouldn't mind having a Sig though....good guns.

whoops....i lied.

i have the 6906....smaller model with the semi-concealed hammer.

i think the 5906 is the full sized service model.

For .45's...

Sig P220 looks like a cool gun... But isn't the mag cap only 8? Glock21 carries like 13 yeh?

What do you recommend for LE, Manny?

The SIg P-220 is a single stack mag, just like 1911's. While Glock is a double stack, like most handguns today. Some prefer the 1911 cause of its slime grip, smooth handling. Personally I dont mind.

Now for LE I have my opinion, which may offend many 1911 fans: this gun/concept is not a smart choice for LE. Why ?

- single stack provides only 6-8 rounds. You better go with a revolver which has more stopping power (cause of its mag. calibers) and more reliable.

- single action for LE is crap and also forbidden in many agencies.

- While the .45 ACP may be a good choice for home protection, it's lacks what it takes to be the perfect LE caliber. .40 S&W and .357 sig. have better ballistic performances, with a moderate recoil.

That is correct.. It is the service model...In fact I bought it from a sheriffs deputy here in alabama.. Hence why I have the high capacity mags with it....

ok, all these gun threads lately are going to force me to go clean my bedroom and try to find my damn Ruger.....

I have ammo in the filing cabinet by the safe, but haven't seen the damn handgun in quite a while...... you can call me mr. organized.
