Who are we kidding calling bodybuilding "fitness"?

Honestly, bodybuilding has to be the worst sport for fitness at the competitive level. It's fitness for the average guy not juiced up training at the gym. But at the competitive level there's nothing healthy about it. Just weighing as much as a bodybuilder is bad for your health. Big Ramy is almost 350 lbs. off season. Humans weren't intended to walk around weighing as much as a silver back gorilla! We've seen the effects on guys like Kovacs, Nasser, etc. The list of those who died young in this sport is long. I say this as a retired powerlifter in his 40's that's feeling the effects of what that sport has done to their body. I don't know if I'll ever be able to sleep again without a back ache on top of shoulder pain. Then of course there is the drugs. Everyone should know that the drugs in the iron sports are horrible. I've posted before about now being on 14 different prescriptions. I'm wondering what the gear I've used in the past has done to me.I don't think there's a chance that my testes will ever function properly again. That's my rant for the evening, LOL.

well anyone who would argue with you on those points would have to be a narcissistic fool to think that bodybuilding today is actual fitness

being fit is able to run a mile in 8 minutes with no problem, having good heart health, sleeping 8 hours a night, being stress free and not being on any sort of drug

No sport will ever be healthy on a competitive level. In Russia they have a saying - sports are for health, professional sports are to kill health. Only professional level chess would be harmless. Any other sport will cause lots of injuries, because when you go all in, you try to overcome natural limits, and there is a price to pay for this.

As someone who still competes I know only too well that to win and indeed to get world records it's never gonna be healthy or for fitness. Sure I might, JUST, have an advantage over the non-trained fella but against someone who actually trains for fitness - no chance.

Bodybuilding is having a beautiful outside but toxic inside.

Just like modelling. 90% of the models I model with abuse nicotine and caffeine to crush their appetite and keep themselves thin. Without make up on they look like they are about to pass out any minute

I completely agree. The guys at the top of competitive bodybuilding are certainly not doing things that are healthy for their bodies or fitness levels. The size they are, the amount of food they eat, and the drugs they take are definitely going to take a toll on their health in the long run.
