Who actually uses a belt, and when?

"the entire ab region will thicken from certain movements "

"I only use a belt when i go heavy with squats and deadlifts."

That pretty much sums it up.

Injury would probably be an issue if you squatted with your belt all the time, then was traveling and forgot the belt, then tried to squat heavy on the road, but not as likely if you use the belt all the time. None-the-less, most of your work should be done without a belt. Save it for the heavy 1 - 3 RM range.

Well, that clears that up! Thank you. I basically never do anything below about 4 reps, so I'll just carry on as usual - beltless!

i use my belt for heavy squatting because when i don't i feel i push too much with my abs and i want to keep my waist small... Maybe it is just throwing caution to the wind, but i would rather be safe than sorry.. not to mention it supports my lower back when i go heavy and below parallel...

I use my belt mainly for leg and back exercises, other than the safety reasons others have mentioned, it helps me keep a correct position for certain movements.

I rarely use a belt. The only time I will put it on is if I'm squatting heavy but most of the time I don't wear one.
