While bulking, should I add to my lifts every week?

Some training programs like Max OT say you should add every week - even if it is a little 2lbs increment - add to your lifts every week.

Other theories suggest your body can still grow at the same weight for 3 weeks.

How do you know if you can add to a lift? If I max out on squats for 6 reps last week, how will I know if I gained enough strength to up the poundage? Try the pounds of last week for 6 reps and see if I can do more?
That is my view on this.

If I can add, I do. I wonder if this is too much and not doing me much good, as some trainers at the gym advise against this as they say your body should adapt to the weight - do not move up before you've worked with the weight 3 times. I feel I have to move up so I force myself to adapt, but I have no knowledge on the subject.

What do you guys do? What are your opinions?

Here's how I add weight while bulking:

On bench for example, I'll start with a weight I can lift only 4-5 reps. I will keep at it every week until I can lift that weight with perfect form six times. Then I'll add weight the following week, 5, 10, sometimes 20 lbs depending on the excercise.

Then do the same thing. Keep at it until you can lift that weight six times with perfect form. It can be very frustrating at times. There've been times when it's taken 2-4 weeks before I can do the higher weight perfectly. But lucky for me, I'm not bright enough to give up.

Now obviously, I'm not doing only one set per excercise. I'll do a 10-8-6 or 8-6-4 routine, but you get the idea.

Here's what I do. I do 4 sets of 6. The last set I'll add more weight, if I can get that weight perfect form I'll increase the next time I'm at the gym

Whatsup bro? Yeah I would suggest maybe adding a little bit of weight like every 1-2 weeks. Just to see how your muscles adapt. I mean I like to add maybe 2.5-5 lbs. every week or every other week and it really forces my muscles to get used to the constantly increasing workload.
:D:D

set your workout weights in advance, if you can lift the weight for the # of reps scheduled, bump 5 lbs next workout!!!

in my opinion, if you do not ask your muscles to perform more work, why would they grow? They only need to be THAT big to lift THAT weight. Demand more of them to get bigger...
