Check around your hardware stores, most of them will have the 1/2" chains.Ideally the 3/4" chain is the way to go,but is hard to find in my area. You could check a salvage yard, ship yard etc... for them.
ahhh thats a bitch, i hadnt considered shipping charges, cuz i had checked out the chains on a link from elitefitnesssystems.com and thought about ordering those, but i guess im better off snooping around my area
I had a local machine shop order mine...allthough, he didnt charge me shipping..where he had to pick them up was a weekly trip for him..so he grabbed the chains, along with his other orders...Pretty good deal.....but a ship yard would be your best bet...
I had to check about 5 different hardware stores before I could find 5/8" chain. And the guy who I bought it from had never sold any before! He had this barrel full of 5/8 chain, and he had no idea how to cut it. It took him about an hour with a grinder to cut my 2 5-foot pieces. It was about $70; I think he overcharged me. How much did you guys pay for your chain?
The 5/8" chain I got from a supply company. They just happened to have some scrap chain...so I got lucky and got it cheap. You just have to look around.
You should be able to buy them from any industrial supply company or heavy maintenance supply company, or they can at least order them for you.. I got mine this way for about $50 per set for 2 sets.. Just try to find somewhere that you can actually go pick them up..I found at several places the shipping charges were higher than the actual chain..
