Hello!

anyone knows trhe difference between chins and close reverse hand pulldowns?

They both seem to work lats but with close reverse grip pulldown I seem to be able to move more weight.

Both moves seem to work the lats. Is there any difference in back muscle recruitment
between these two exercises?

reply please!

thanks!

Many feel lat pulldowns are in no way comparable to chins. I'm generally fairly "machine-friendly" but from my experience I'd agree. If you can already do multiple repititions in the chin, with good form, its probably a much better option than pulldowns. Can't give you any specific explanation though, just my opinion.

Pull ups are superior for one reason. Any movement that causes your body to move through a space, (ie pullups, squats) causes your body to recruit more motor units, thus necessatating a greater contractile force within the muscle.

Well, I cant get enough reps with chins... so I do pulldowns in addition.

Also then. What is the difference between normal and parrallel grip chin?

The work the elbow flexors a little differently just like hammer curls work them differently as opposed to regular curls.
