What's my maintenace calories? (keto diet question)

According to literature by McDonald, the maintenance calories for a 170-lb male lifter is 15 cal/lb., or 2,550 calories.

However, going by McDonald's more detailed explanations, taking my Resting Energy Expenditure (I weigh 170 lbs.), Thermic Effect of Activity (I'm moderately active), and the Thermic Effect of Feeding into account would give me daily maintenance calories of 3,085, or 18.15 cal/lb.

Why is there such a large disparity?

500 calories isn't really that much of a disparity...but I'd say the difference stems from the fact that the first calculation is more of a general rule of thumb for determining BMR - and the latter calculation attempts to determine your AMR (active metabolic rate).

Personally, I'd give the CKD calculator made by Mr.X a whirl and see how those numbers work...
