One of my girlfriends is getting married tomorrow and I'm in the wedding

tonight is the rehearsal dinner and my husband does not want to go

everyone else is bringing their husbands and its free booze

i dont get it?

I'm not mad, but I'll be the only one without their spouse.

Should I put my foot down or let it go?

I've gone to all of his crap. I rarely ask him to do things he does not want to do. I think of all the times I've gone to dive bars to watch some gay ass band play just to hang out with him

or all the years i've watched chiefs games

or the rehearsal dinners I've gone to when he was a groomsman

he's being such a pussy. he's never had a problem around people/strangers before. Especially if he gets to drink

Foot down - no doubt. One of the crosses one has to bare being married. He knows the rules.

you think so? I kinda agree. I thought that rehearsal dinners and dates to weddings and funerals were just things that you had to do when married.

everyone will ask where he's at and I'll have to lie.

Normally I dont care what he does, as we live pretty seperate lives when we want to - I dont mind doing stuff alone

but I thought that rehearsal dinners were a given, no questions no complaining.

i almost always enjoy going to stuff like that. . .especially if there's booze. . .i can't understand why he wouldn't want to go. . .gotta be more to the story than that. . .oh. . .and. . .by the way. . .no way in hell i'm getting away with anything like that. . .my wife would be hurt. . .and pissed. . .rightfully so. . .

He's being selfish and will be expecting you to do more crap with him. Maybe you're not being very assertive. What's the big deal? I think some of these parties get way out of hand and can be a ton of fun.

One Q though? Do you get jealous easily? Is he going to catch hell for looking a drunk bridesmaid with her boobs out? That could make me want to avoid the fight to follow.

*cant believe Im going to reply to an advice thread about marriage when I have a horrible track record, but here goes*

Id make sure he knows that you really would like him to be there with you (you like to spend time with him and at social functions, not just out of spite)
but if he chooses not to go, i would leave it alone. I was never big into forcing or guilting anyone into going to functions.

at the risk of being accused of being a traitor to the brotherhood. . .that's just fuggin' whack. . .i don't get it. . .over the years i've had a hell of a lot of fun doing things with my wife that, to be honest, i didn't really want to do. . .e.g., we went to a halloween party a few years back (pre-kids). . .i hate getting dressed up for halloween. . .didn't even like it when i was a kid. . .it's fuggin' :rainbow: so i bitched the whole day before and the whole time we were getting ready until she was about to strangle me. . .you know what?? the party was KICK ASS. . .one of the top 10 parties i ever attended. . .ever since that experience i always try to keep an open mind. . .and, even when i don't want to go, i still do. . .

No, I never get jealous. Nor does he get jealous of me. We dont have that type of relationship. This is a really trusting, almost too friendly type relationship to be honest. lol

He just does not want to go because he does not know anybody

and I sympathize a little, thats why I'm not mad.....yet

I kinda understand his point of view. I've learned to just force myself in situations like this, I'd just make sure he knows that you really would appreciate him coming with you and that it would mean a lot to you. Honestly, if I were in a similar situation, even if I didnt want to come, it would be hard to say no.


EDIT: And once he gets there, he'd probably have a decent time anyways.

I already owe him one. LOL!

from last weekend because i went out with the girls and the next morning was stranded at the hotel without my keys and forgot which parking garage i left my car in! 7:30 in the morning I called him on a Sunday to come bring me a spare and drive me around kansas city while i run up and down all the parking garages because they all "look kinda familiar".

I still have not repayed him yet! :worried:

I think thats what I'm going to do.

Just tell him how much I really want him to be there and that I know it sucks but that he can drink as much as he wants, I'll drive.

this girl is such a good friend that I dont even have to drink around her she's so cool. that says alot. lol

if he dont, i'll just have to deal with it, and he owe's me on his aunts bday or something! ha!

It was a planned binge drink night for a bachelorette party

no. . .not the 7:30 in the morning and not the keys. . .the whole "all of the parking garages looking kinda familiar" thing probably would have pushed my buttons after a while. . ."pissed" would probably be an overstatement, though. . .aggravated would probably cover it. . .i'd have probably asked for my reward at the parking garage :)
 
I guess you should get down to the what is bothering him..and work from there,, He may be under some strees hes is hiding from you with good intentions.. just commicate.

we have 5 sets of keys for my wife's car. . .and if she can find 2 sets at any given time i'll kiss her ass. . .so, no. . .you're not alone. . .and for the record, i don't even get annoyed (much) by that trait anymore. . .i got a number of annoying ones myself that she finds it within her heart to live with. . .we ain't perfect. . .but she's definitely more perfect than me. :)

oh. . .and for future reference. . .there's only like a handful of construction companies that build all the parking garages throughout the lower 48. . .thus. . .THEY ALL LOOK KIND OF FAMILIAR. . .EVEN IN DIFFERENT CITIES. . .also. . .whenever you park in a garage (unless you're valeted) you should always take your ticket with you because:

a) it will help you find the garage again (hello???) and

b) it's the easiest and best way to keep a car thief from stealing your car from a garage. . .you don't have your ticket?? you don't get out without proof of ownership and (usually) the police are summoned as well.

this concludes your lesson on parking 101.

I think he's gonna stay at home and watch porn the whole time. Thats what I would have done in similar situations.

So is he planning on going to the wedding with you? Or are you going solo to it as well? I guess since he probably doesn't know anyone that will be there that gives him a good excuse not to show up with you. I guess we will save that for another thread.

I didnt make him go, that would have been exactly what happened. He would have been miserable. I met up with him for drinks when I was done. Everything was fine and no one was angry.
