Welcome. 6ft and 160lbs? no need for cutting. At worst, you are a "skinny fat person", that is you have a higher fat content... tell us about that, can you see your muscles? (arms, shoulders, etc) do you have a pot-belly? love handles?
Depending on where you stand today, you can go either the "let's try and burn some fat before, even though I may look skinny for a while" or "let's try and get some muscle/stamina, though I may gain some fat doing so"
The training methods vary according to your specific goals, one thing remains constant ALWAYS LIFT AS HEAVY AS YOU CAN... there is really no room for "let's work with these lightweights"
