What kind of gains have you made??

I think this could be a hugely motivational thread to a lot of people (me included).

How long have you been lifting, how much bodyweight have you gained, how much have certain lifts of yours gone up?

I've only been lifting about 6 months, I've put on 25 lbs and my bf % has probably gone up 2-3%.

Upright row up at 25-30 lbs.
DB bench press up 15 lbs
barbell curls up 25 lbs
lat pulldowns up 50 lbs  ( have trouble believing this but thats what my log says)

The rest of my routine has totally changed so I dont have numbers for deads and squats from when I started.

well the past 6 months or more i am almost 2 times as fast in my 4 mile than i was 6 months ago. ive been running hard and doing the stair climber. i believe when i first started my 4 mile run i was running it in over 42 minites or so. low im running damn near a 26 minite 4 mile!!!!!!!

other than that i dont really pay attention to how much weight i throw up because im not a strength athlete. latley ive been going for more of the "pump" or trying to really "feel" the excersise stimulating my muscles. i think if ur a bodybuilder and just look at poundages and not concentrating in feeling the excersise working then your missin the point. thats just my opinion though.

ive also definitly dropped my bodyfat and perhaps gained some muscle too in the past 6 months especially in my back and abdominals and really increased my quad definition

those are some serios gains by the way congradulations. 25 pounds is awesome, whats your routine?

i've been lifting for about 4 1/2 years, i've lost 10% bodyfat yet gained 80 pounds

jeremy u hit puberty in those years.......i have seen your pics and your a huge 15 year old awesome lifts for a 15 year old too. you doing any cardio yet?

thanks man. yeah, that probably explains my gains.

the only cardio i plan on doing, even if i cut for a contest when i'm 18-19 would be sprints. that way i can lose some fat and hopefully maintain almost all my mass

i'm going to do 4 long sprints once a week from now on

well, not short ones. lol

i'm just going to mark out some distance on my driveway(it's 1/4 mile long) and just go back and forth

i would recomend sinse u dont want to do too much cardio.....you should do 1 mile everyday and try to get better everyday

4 quater mile sprints once a week is nothing bro

maybe not for you, but it would be enough for me. i'm not looking to waste too many calories here or anything. a mile a day would also definately be overkill for me

Well since Aug my weight has gone from 165 lbs to an all time high of which was today at 191 lbs .Im 511 by the way.And over that same time period my Bench has gone up from 225 barely getting it up to 280 lbs 3 reps. And I actually just started bulking the weight I put on was when I was cutting which may seem odd but I was away for the military up to Aug so thats why my weight jumped up so fast even while cutting I was still consuming more food than when I was away.

nclifter, you're obviously experienced lifter, i saw your pics on facethejury or something website, youre pretty big. But for those who start out I feel that establishing base by increasing the weights is very benefit.

I lifted for 2.5 years. I was always conscious about my body, and very shy because I was fat and would often starve myself. So one day I went to my university's gym, and saw these built people, and I asked one of them how did you get like this. And this guy said "You think I was born like this?". That sentence made so much sense to me. I started going to gym, 2 hours a day, 5 days a week.. eating maximum of 2 meals a day. I lost a lot of fat and got down to 172 from 200 lbs. That was 1 .5 years ago. Since tehn I started eating a lot, protein... creatine... deadlifts. 1.5 years ago I could bench 135 x 5, squat 95 x 10 (barely) and deadlift about 225 x 1. Fast forward 1.5 years... I bench 265, squat 315 and deadlift 405, lat pulldown 250 x 5, shrug 315 x 10 without cheating, powerclean 205, pushpress 185 for 5 clean reps... all at bodyweight of 205 and bf appprox 14-18%

Over a 16 year training history I went from 180 lbs to 28. (lost 65 lbs of it during a divorce regained a lot of it and then cut down last summer and am presently a leaner 237 at 6'3"), tripled my strength on some exercises and quadrupled on others, increased bis from 13 inches to 18 1/2, chest from 40 to 48, thighs from 23 to 27 1/2 , calves from 16 to 18 1/2 while ending up with the same waist measurement that I started with-so it works out to a net gain of 57 lbs of muscle- naturally; Squat went from 135 to 525 for 10, Incline presses from 115 to 315, etc.

uh. I started lifting in 9th grade. LOL, oh man I think I started at bench reps with 115, and squats with about the same. I didnt even start Cleaning until Varsity football. The most weight I have ever lifted.
320 fairly clean bench press
345 3 rep deep squat ( any heavier and it really hurts my back)
I think I Power Cleaned 235 at somepoint but Im not sure.
195 overhead press, not a pretty one though. BUT my best rep range is around 6-8, I excell in this range, I cant lift to heavy.

I'll be posting some before and after pics for the last 2 or so months, you will see my gains in those pics.

6-7 months proper training under my belt at a gym since my teenage years, or 10 months with my intial body weight stuff at home.

I'm 5'9" and in this time I went from 215 lbs or so with a 40+ inch waist
down to 180lbs with a 32.5inch waist.
I then went up to 192 with a 34 inch waist 2.5 months ago
and now at 192lbs (but I actually weighed 195-196 today!) with a 32.75inch waist

I've gotten a lot stronger as well. See the PR thread

Training since the age of 9. Powerlifting since April (WSB). From April to present (6 months):

Squat: 285-342
Bench: 95-188 (265 shirted)
Deadlift: 221-375 (397 partial)

Holy hell those are some great gains!!!

My routine during that time was a bulking diet and compound freeweight movements with 3-4 sets of 8-10 for most exercises. Now I've just started the 5x5 routine, this will be my second week on it.

I started training over 10 years ago, was just over 140lbs at 5'9" when I started training, am sitting at 230lbs with around 10% bodyfat now.
As for lifts, I'm not really into maxes, but my best sets include deadlift (no belt or straps) 550lbs for a set of 5 reps
squats 430lbs (ass to the floor, no belt) for 5 reps
bench 325lbs 3 sets of 5 reps

Well, I started lifting when I was nearing the end of grade 11. I was about 150 lbs @ 5'10. Since then I have suffered numerous injuries like getting run over by a car, minor bicep tendon tears, shoulder seperations, cartelage tear in my knee...
Anyways... even with all of these injuries, I've managed to go from 150 to 200. I'd say in the 5 years I've managed to put on over 35 lbs of LBM.... Please note that there have probably been over 2 years in this time period where I was unable to workout due to injuries..
Funniest thing is I just started doing legs seriously this year.... I figure I'm good for at least 10 lbs on my legs within a year...
I'm not into max lifts, but here are some of my average lifts
Some of my lifts
3x8x205 Bench (first time benching in 2 years was 2 weeks ago)
100 lb dumbells for flat bench
85 lb dumbells for incline bench
3x5x285 deadlift (just started doing them a few months ago)
3x5x230 squat (just started doing them a few months ago)

Been lifting on and off since high school. (Mostly off...:p ) Been serious for the last 2 years. Started at 180lbs, unsure of BF%. Now, 200lbs at about the same BF%. (Judging by looks.) By the way, 5'9".

Been stuck at 200lbs for several months now.....:(

Started lifting 1.5 years ago...

Bench: around 200 to 365 t&g Raw

Squat: around 315 to 405 for 5 reps nothing but belt on, 470 for 1
with belt & wraps, was easy have 500 in me Im sure, with suit on who knows-- 700? however much those triple ply canvasses give you...

DL: 365 to a damn near miss with 500 but close enough to think Ill get it in a month or so.

bwt rather not talk about (IM fuckin' fat.)

let's talk about what I can't do now that I could 1.5 years ago:

I could jog 4 miles without stopping;

I could bend over to tie my shoe laces and not feel like my lungs are being squashed;

hike 8-10 miles to the top of a 4000 ft mountain and back to car without fearing a heart attack and make it home in time to either feast on some Bojangles chicken or go out and drink a vat of beer.

look at what I gave up for strength: oh well.

Lifting about ten years.
I've made my best gains in the last few years when I have really made sacrifices and applied knowledge to my training.

Started at 6'1" 140 lbs (weak as hell)
I could wrap my fingers around my upper arms and touch my fingertips

Currrently 6'2" 260 lbs (low bf, but not sure exact)
Dead:545 bench:405 Overhead:275+

Well this one is kind of difficult for me to answer but I will do the best I can.

I first started weight training as a freshman in high school standing an imposing five feet seven and one half inches tall and a massive one hundred thirty-five lbs. First time I ever got on a bench I was able to do 5 reps with 135 lbs. for 3 sets.

My best performance on bench in a meet was recently when I did a 500 bench (wearing a shirt) weighing in at 220 lbs. I have grown no taller since I was a freshman in high school.

I don't know what I could squat when I got started, but it was not much. I am in the neighborhood of a 600 squat right now. I am not positive what it is, cause I have not done a full meet yet, but have box squatted over 500 with straps down to a parallel box and have done around 630 or more on a high box.

Deadlift is dreadful but have managed to pull around 430 in the gym when I could not pull 225 in high school. I have always been able to bench more than I could deadlift. Weird, I know.

I have been as heavy as 230+ so I have at times put on in the neighborhood of 100 lbs since I began training 14 years ago. Bear in mind that for my high school years training was very sporadic, mostly between basketball, baseball and football seasons, and was far from scientific. Just hit or miss type training.

I have been trianing consistently, though for the most part not smartly, for the last 10 years. Last year and a half have seen by far the best strength gains I have ever produced, and I was already a seasoned trainer at that time. I switched to the Westside program, and have seen all my lifts vastly improve, with bench in particular going through the roof. I went from a 355 bench at 215 to a 500 at 220 in 14 months. And the only thing that has changed in that time has been my training regimen.

been training for 5 years since i was a junior. havent grown any since then, (actually i think i have shrunk hahaha) so im still 5"10.

i went from 140lbs wrestling my senior year to a very large 225lbs May of my freshman year. That summer i dieted down for my first show at 160lbs in august, then back up to 215 by new year, then back down to 170 for my 2nd show during spring break. a year later i weighed 275lbs, got married this past summer and dieted down to 225lbs, going back up now and im at 245lbs.

total, i have went from bench pressing 115 to 305lbs, squatting 185lbs to 435lbs, and deadlifting 135lbs to 425lbs. My bodyfat right now is around 14%.

one of my best lifts ever, i think anyways, was 105lb dumbells on incline bench press for 8.
