What kind of dog to get?

yeah my neighbor had one die of what had to be a heat stroke last summer. if you look around you can find some that aren't such inbred retards that are somewhat healthy though

the one he had before that one lived for around 9 years

Go to a rescue and find a dog that was well socialized and used to other animals. Plenty of good, trained dogs that had to be given up for one reason or another. Safer bet than a shelter, obedience wise.

I have a bagle (beagle/basset hound mix) and its a great dog. I dont think these dogs are very widespread so my next dog will be either a beagle or basset hound.
