What is your opinion on a nutritionist cert?

I have the opportunity to get a good deal on the ISSA certs... if I order the courses for both the PT and Nutritionist, I get 300 off the total... so instead of paying 595 and 550 I get them both for 845...

Do you think it would be more valuable to a personal trainer to actually have or should I just forego the nutrition cert and stick with the PT stuff?

People are all about paper with your name on it C. The more paper you have, the better you look. In my opinion it would be well worth the cash for the nutrition cert. You would become A LOT more marketable to potential trainees.

I'd say it would be a good investment.

That's what I was thinking... people believe you more when you have that piece of paper... I'm not sure why... as my physique should speak for it... but I guess it is like a security blanket for them. :)

Thanks dude... anyone else?

Just because ISSA is one of the few nationally recognized certs that is out there... which is a good thing. :)

i would if i had the chance, that way being certified gives you more "credibility" when giving out nutrtional info. know what i mean? most people you pick up as clients in the beginning bascially women looking to lose weight that have never been in the gym before can only go by your paper since if your just starting out you dont have a reputation yet. That's what i've found anyway and i've only been training for a year.

i was thinking abou ACSM as my next cert but i've heard those tests are rough.

I agree about getting certification/papers to provide credentials because it takes you to a higher level (ie more $$ and respect), but you also gotta look the part, too. I would not listen to anyone who does not have the physique to tell me what to do :). It's like that Escape Your Shape program for overweight people..the guy is heavy himself. :mix:

Yeah, you can call me superficial..but you gotta look pretty good to tell people what to do. ;)

I have to add before you get bitchy...Yes, you look the part, but don't slack off. :D

i feel the same way,but i know a guy he's a little overweight
ans he's a trainer but if i did not know him i would not ask him for advise.

hey C

i wsa looking around the ISSA site today after you said that,. Jsut curious whta did oyu want to do with you Cert? FT? just a PT gig? what kind of i guess neighborhood are you in?

just curious because depeding on all that you might want to do the CPT and one of the others rather than the performance nutrtion.

like for me workign in the DC/balt. area. i was leaning towards the CPT and the fitness therapist. damn issa and their good deal in price...i didn't want to have to get another cert till later next year! haha. let me know man.
