Thing about Scion is that they haven't been around long enough to determine how mechanically sound they are. Remember Yugo?

Mr. dB said:Scion = Toyota. I think they have somewhat of a track record.

Sugarplum said:i just got a new second car- a new 2004 hyundai Elantra, hatch back for around $11k. Awesome stereo, leather seats, great safety rating, and a 10 year/ 100k mile warranty with 5 years road side assistance.
i traded in a dodge durango truck that i HATED.
RottenWillow said:I have a 2003 that I bought new in May of last year. does come with a pretty good sound system for that class of car, doesnt it? My major complaint is it's gutless. Trying to pull out into a busy road is like trying to pass a watermelon through your nose.

Sugarplum said:i think i got the bigger engine- this one rocks. its a manual transmission and dark red. (i'm picky about car colors)

the EX, even with the base engine, would exceed that mark.

RottenWillow said:Honda isnt offering any rebates, even on the '04's. However, dealers may be dropping below MSRP to get rid of this year's models.
AAP if you can find an '04 Accord Coupe EX on a lot somewhere that a dealer is willing to move for under 20K you need to jump on that! that's a little over 2K below MSRP.

pitbullstl said:I used the word "rebates" in the broad sense. Actually it's dealer holdbacks, and yes they can be bought for 20k...........or you can buy one from me with 14k miles for $17,900.![]()

Mr. dB said:The Scion tC is a "girl car." I'd much rather have a Civic Si hatch, even though it's a "kiddie car."
Can an SVT Focus be had for $20K? Or a leftover 2004 Mustang GT?
AAP, what are you looking for in a car? Do you just want basic transportation, a "transport appliance", or something with some style and performance? Do you care about room? Or fuel economy? Or dignity? Are you more of a sedan guy, or a coupe guy?
RottenWillow said:Says who? Almost no one has one yet, "girls" or otherwise.
RottenWillow said:problem is trying to actual see one in person. Toyota dealers are preselling the tC so there are never any on the lots. This is a brand new vehicle people are buying sight unseen. I've tried to check one out at all three of Atlanta's Toyota dealers and they tell me to try back on a certain day as Mr or Ms Jones's preordered car will be on the lot for a few hours, but no I wouldnt be able to drive it since it was already purchased. What the fuck?
AAP said:I have a 99 toyota tacoma which I am going to sell. I need to get me back and forth to the beach and places so I don't track up my benz. I want something cheap because it is not going to be for heavy duty transportation needs.
Mr. dB said:Okay, here's a left-field suggestion -- the Honda Element. It's weird and funky looking, but it's got tons of useful space for a small vehicle. It'd be a great beach car, or for shopping, or for hauling shit home from Home Depot. It's mechanically identical to a Civic, so you know it'll be reliable. It's a good, informal second car for kicking around in.
AAP said:The Honda Element is similiar to the Scion xb isnt' it?
RottenWillow said:Says who? Almost no one has one yet, "girls" or otherwise.
AAP, a 1 year old Mitsubishi Eclipse GTS (210 hp & 205 ft lbs torque) can be had for about 17k. If you like the looks of it and want something sporty, you might consider that.

wutangnomo said:Have you seen the new re-designed Toyota Tacoma just released? I'm thinking of getting one, just went to the dealer yesterday to check one out for that matter lol.
It looks ten times better then the older Tacomas and has more space all around. Seriously check out the newly designed Tacoma. Definitely going to be a best-seller in its class. You can get an access cab for fairly cheap I believe.
