What is considered a "good" weight for stiff-legged deadz?

I just added these to my training, just got the hang of them also. What is considered a good weight on these. I worked my way up from to 315 for 10 and 405 for 2. I was talking to a buddy of mine at the gym and he thought I was crazy for "going so heavy". Just wondering, stryder.

315 is fine for you if you can get 10 good reps, but i would never do stiffies for low reps like you did with the 405. Its such a strict movement i stick with a weight i can esily manipulate and control, and would be too worried about going for low rep/high weight. just my opinion though

I dont think SLDLs are condusive to very heavy weights

especially the way i see people doing them. i prefer a romanian style anyways. shortens the range of motion but prevents the knees from locking out. i go up to 275 before my grip starts to give. you can definitely go heavy on these as long as you are bending at the HIPS and not allowing your back to bend. most people try to reach too low and bend/round their back to get that "extra reach". go til you feel a stetch with a flat back (usually mid/upper shin) and come back up.

I never even work up that high. I like to feel a stretch and then back up to. If you keep a good flat back you will feel the stretch sooner.

I don't see a problem with doing singles, proviided your form is good.

I did 385x1 the other night, never tried going heavy before, didnt have any problems. Like anything else, form is important, bad form at any exercise can cause an injury.

Westside people do a lot of heavy singles with good mornings, and I dont see SLDLs as any more dangerous to the lower back when done properly.

I remember on elitefts a guy writing in on how a buddy snapped one of his hamstrings, going really heavy on sdl's. They replied that they don't do them, think that they are rather dangerous and do goodmornings instead. just food for thought.
