what do you guys eat right after your workout?

Usually chicken/grits or an Isopure Meal Replacement shake.

I need something w/ high protein and a good amount of carbs.

The chicken/grits has: 57g protein, 27g carbs, 5g fat, and 400 calories. (I use lots of spray butter too, bc its awesome!!)

The Isopure shake has 50g protein, 25 carbs, 0 fat, and 300 calories.

Just depends on my mood and if I'm craving REAL food.

I normally open a can of tuna......and make a tuna salad. Or sometimes throw in some can chicken......so blah...the price we pay :)

grits...hmm. sounds very...southern. My dad used to eat those with a couple of eggs sunny side up...he'd bust the egg yolk and mix that nasty yellow shit with the grits....

....so now...I don't eat grits.

..but the nutritional value sounds good.
 
1 scoop of Isopure protein mix (0 carb) + l-glutamine. Within an hour, chicken + broccoli or some such protein/veggie combo, lots of water. If not too late, about 3 oz sweet potatoe too. Exciting, huh?? LOL!
 
2 scoops Glutapro (36 gms pro, 10 gms glut), water, water... 1 1/2 later chic breast & broc in salad topped w/ 1 T Udo's Chioce oil :p

EAT CARBS AFTER A WORK OUT
hehehe witht hat out of the way here is my post work out dring as per the .4/.2 formula plus some

10-12 iu hum r
4 cups fat free milk (slow digesting sugar/protien to sustain food supply)
1 scoop of protien mix (good quick protien)
1 pack sugar free pudding mix (good flavor and maltodex (VERY fast carbs, spikes insulin...)
2/3 cup of pudding mix (nice and thick, a bit slower carbs to sustain healin)
1000 Mg Vit C ground up
1 pack carnation instant breakfast (tastey, good mix of carbs, and good vitamin supply)
7 gr glutamine
5 gr creatine
 
am (cardio) - mrp
pm (weights) - carb drink + glutamine + creatine (immediately after)
protein shake or meat and veggies (asparagus) and sweet potato (45min after)

i've switched from having a protein shake right after i lifted to the carb drink, and what a difference... i'll change it up again some soon since it will be hard to cut up like that, but my body has responded very well to this so far
 
About 45 mintues after I have plain, active cultures yogurt, a little honey and flax seed meal mixed in. Then, 1 hour after that I have protein and veggies.

Blueberry Hotcakes w/strawberry topping
2 - servings grilled turkey breast (6 slices)
Cottage cheese
Apple sauce or fruit
Glazed cinnamon swirl roll

This will hold one for about 3-4 hours.
 
yeah yeah yeah.........but for those of us who are dieting..pancakes are only but a dream:( The first thing I eat after a show is a big stack of pancakes...mmm mmmm now after a workout, i eat turkey breasts, or chicken and some good ol veggies and water.....
 
I lift in the garage and outdoors. It is very very hot here...so eating a lot of food is not always a good option. Keep the trash can handy during all sets:) I have to cool down a bit before I can eat anything after I lift.

11:30am- 1 cup yogurt, 1 glass 2% milk, 1 glass oj, 1 glass water

12:30- hit they gym

1:45- done in the gym, 1 glass of oj, 1 glass milk

3:00- mrp (66g prot), bananna (I am at work here)

Of course...I eat about 6 times after I lift...maybe 7.

The diet board has a sticky thread explaining the importance of Proper post workout meals and has theories and examples of a perfect post workout meal.
Its at the top, stuck.
 
Thanks blood. I was curious about my peeps on _this_ board.

It seems what is perfect for some isn't perfect for others...I'll take a look.

45 minutes to 1 hour after my workout I eat

1 cup oatmeal
1 banana (or peice of fruit)
50 grams whey protein

Sounds like alot, but usually, 1 hour after my first meal, I'm hungry again.
 
well jennifer...we have something in common. That's exactly what I eat.

my whey drink is Designer Protein.

an hour later I eat a green, fibrous veggie and a can of tuna...sometimes agreen salad with chicken and a bit of avocado.
 
SAME SHIT

After a workout, I usually eat the same shit I eat every other meal... except maybe instead of such a slow carb like oatmeal, I will have some sweet potatoes, which give me a bit more of a kick.

LOL.. i hear ya!!! i feel like i eat the SAME SHIT allll the time. chiken, turkey,tuna, fruit protein shake, broccolli, broccolli, broccolli, protein shake, chicken, tuna, fruit (usually berries) --- im totally digusted at the thought of egg whites right now so i wont even go there. :mad: ahhhh its alllll worth it though:D

Hey baby, it sounds like you have some different foods to play with! You see, during the last time that I dieted for a show, I got sick and can no longer really digest anything... I can't eat vegetables, fruit (with skin or seeds), any wheat,no dairy, no supplement shakes or bars, the list goes on... I am not kidding when I say that I eat the same shit all the time... I eat sweet potatoes without the skin, oatmeal, rice, sometimes white potatoes (no skin), and the basic protein staples. I can't eat much fat, or else I'll be in the bathroom for a few days... So, one good thing comes out of this... a hard body... I just have to make sure that I take my vitamins! It is so hard when you can't eat salads and shit.. the meals are so damn tiny you want to cry... My friends and family think I am nuts for being able to put up with it as well as I do.

Keep working hard, and you do know that it pays off! Headaches now, but DAMN do you look good later!! :D :D :D :D

After I train I run straight over to the neighbors farm with my 12 guage in hand...drop a big ol cow and throw it on the grill...doesn't take too long to cook a bloody rare steak:)

Usually Im so hungry after my workouts.........ready to kill........:)
The usual meal for me would be Chiken Breast/yams or 1/2baked potatoe or 5-6 egg whites omelet/veggies.............or Protein shake (water)fruit.....when lazy.........I prefer solid meals to Shakes....
Oh and when Im really bad its Snickers Bar:(
Just try to consume meals consisting of HighProtein with High GI within within an hour of your workout.

Cutting- wait 30-60 mins, then high gh carbs and 40 g pro. 1 hr later real food usu chicken breast and potato or rice.
Bulking- have 40 g whey in 12 oz. skim asap. Meaning put down the bar, walk over to my cubby hole, drink my shake that I brought from home. 1 hr later, real food usu a sandwich ( can of tuna or chicken on whole wheat) or same as above.
