Learning basic HTML for a stupid website assignment for class.

Anyone know how to make cool stuff happen on websites, like popups that say funny stuff, or scrolling messages, or anything like that?

I never found any simplistic 'how-to' sites on the language, so I'm stuck learning by myself.

And what the hell does &nbsp mean?! It seems to function as a spacer of some sort?
