what are these lines across my pecs?

hey ive been working out for about 3 months pretty consistently. this is the first time ive really been weight lifting seriously so i dont know much. i noticed that since ive been focusing on inclines alot this month ive started to get lines across my chest. when i bench i get these horizontal lines on my chest in the muscle. like when i flex it looks like the muscle on my chest has horizontal striations under the skin, im like the only person that has this in my gym and im wondering if im doing something wrong. it could also be because i have a low bodyfat percentage. can someone explain this? oh and is it just from inclines or from all chest excercises? ne help is appreciated

Excellent!! This is good, if you have striations, you are a lean machine! It could also be the separation between the upper and lower pecs. Franco Columbu had this type of development.

Yeah, the Pectoralis Major has 2 components, the clavicular and the sternal heads. Perhaps it's just that you're so lean that the separation is visible, as previously noted. If that is the case then it's definately the inclines :). What's your bodyfat % by the way? I'm quite curious.

I have the same fan-like spread on my upper chest, its just a genetic type shape some guys get on thier chest, everyone has muscles in different shapes, thickness, sizes.. of each muscle.

I even get that type of fan shape in the lower middle "strium" (SP?) of my chest, its just your own gens.

Those striations are really a bad sign, Stop working out immediately! or you might end up like this dude..

Notice how he totally lacks mass between his upper and lower chest :D Stop working out before its too late!

LOL

YES! you need that fatty soft mass in order to maintain the much sout after American couch potato look.

thanx for the info guys. actually its not one big horizontal line like that guy in the photo so its not the seperation between the upper and lower pecs. its like theres a vertical line down the middle of my chest where my pecs come together when i flex, then there are smaller lines across my pecs horizontally like little striations. i thought i was weird cuz i never saw that on ne one b4 but if its good then im glad. my bodyfat is like 10-12 percent i think but that measurement was taken before i started working out. im basically mad lean with no muscle, starting to get a little bit but not much, ill try to post pics sometime but i feel like a scrawny spaghetti man so maybe ill post in a few months.

thanx again guys!:) :D

Holy crap, who is that guy?!?!??!

That's Roland Cziurloc (sp?). I have the lines you are talking about, they are just striations. It has to do with leanness. My BF% is a little under 6 and I have some pretty solid striations along with some veins on the inner chest. I love it, just wish it was bigger. They are definitely a good thing. Keep up the good work dog!

i have that and im like 14 percent but i think 10 percent is in my midsection :bawling: i have also noticed that even though mhy arms are bigger and more cut then some ppl i am not vascular at all, very little, is that just genetics???

i always wondered about vascularity. ive always had veins in my biceps that popped out, even since i was like 10 yrs old so i assumed it was genetic ( i wasnt working out at 10 yrs old), but it might just be from being mad lean...

you can control vascularity a lot.

I used to not be very vascular at all but believe it or not when I started supplementing with flax seed oil all of a sudden you could see veins on my arms and shit.

i'm sure lots of factors besides genetic affect vascularity.

personally i like being able to see the odd vein but those hyuuuge veins popping out right under the surface of your pecs like the freaking amazon delta don't turn me on at all.

Have you ever come across any scientific reason for this?
Ive never heard of flax resulting in vasularity.
