Him getting beat up is what'll probably get him much less jail time. He should be happy for that. It'll keep his name in the news, and every DA *hates* press. Press == pressure.

Either way, the laws are clear. Cops can only detain and arrest. Not assault. It's what gives cops bad names and the stereotype of being aggressive power hungry assholes who love to beat up people. Whether they deserve it becomes a matter of opinion: Whether u support the criminal or not.

Exactly. Justice is to be meted out AFTER the trial, not before.
