how warranted that you compare someone so long ago that came to power during a rebellion/birth of a nation to someone today

At the time, GW was regarded in England much like Osama bin laden was to us before he was most likely killed, wonder how GWB will be remembered on a longer timeline

But unlike Osama, George Washington was a military commander that fought pitched battles and didn't target civilians. Funny, a British sniper had G Washington in his sight but thought it was morally wrong to shoot a man in the back who was going about his military duty and chose not to take the shot. He learned the next day who he had in his sights...he could have ended the revolution with one shot....

Not to make Washington sound like a saint, he quelled disgruntled soldiers with the typical brutality of that era. A group of soldiers wanted to address grievances and without hearing their case, the NCO "ring leaders" were identified and lots were drawn for the three that would be executed. The winners got the privilege of being the firing squad for their friends...some wept as they loaded their weapons.
