Well, if anyone had any "lingering" questions about U.S moral ambiguity........here you go...

They gave immunity before they even identified specific suspects............so in a nutshell, nothing of any consequence can ever happen to any of these guards even if they are found to have been "GROSSLY" negligent and basically found to be murderers. I'm not making any statement towards guilt.........cause I wasn't there. But for investigators, at the state dept.'s behest, to give immunity to these guards before they clear WHAT THE FUCK ACTUALLY HAPPENED, is a travesty of justice and morality. Every month we do something that makes people in the middle east more and more sure that they want nothing to do with what we're trying to sell over there. If we won't even allow what could possibly turn out to be serious criminals, if we allow them to go back home with the hundreds of thousands of dollars that they made over there..........if we let them walk............we completely lose credibility over there. Now most smart folks know that our "moral" credibility was kind of lost some time ago............but this would pretty much seal the deal..........IF they turn out to have basically committed murder. As I said, they may still be innocent........but giving them immunity at this stage makes the investigation pretty much useless. Why anyone in the middle east would want anything to do with the States at this point is a mystery to me. If there was a foreign power operating in this country as we do there............all of us would be gathering up arms and shooting at them.

You think I should bet on the Packers or the Broncos? I mean the spread is so tight on this one. Plus I haven't watched either team enough to make an informed decision.

I'm fucked aren't I?

It's hard for me to feel any pity for anyone over there.

you do realize that the people who got killed were simple folk on the way to the market right? I mean yeah, that pretty much sums up everyone there. At first I thought that some guys probably hid themselves amongst those people and took some shots at the convoy and they naturally responded by firing back............but apparently no shots had been fired at the guards and no one can think of anything remotely threatening that happened in the area. So I dunno, it's weird............some guy could be at the end of his rope stress wise and hallucinated some shit and there you go. But this is why you have these people under the UCMJ..........no discussions. I'm still puzzled as to why ex military guys, who supposedly served with so much honor............would want to extract themselves from the UCMJ?? I thought operating under a strict code of honor was a source of pride for military guys.

They'll all kill each other anyway. They're animals.

but you still can't let these guys walk like that...........it's a matter of national honor, which apparently means nothing in DC anymore.

You'll NEVER get the whole story stateside, period. There have been many confrontations that have taken place over the years involving spec ops that will never be known. The Feds don't want the public to know to much. That's how it is.
On the other hand, do you really believe the Iraqis account of what happened?

I'm not 100% sure about this, but I think the local people's account of what happened was corraborated by some U.S military personnel in the vicinity...........that or there were some other american personnel, either military or civilian nearby that had the same story. I agree, there's ALOT to be investigated.............my point of contention however was the immunity given out to the guards before the investigation really gets underway. That's dirty as fucking sin...........possibly one of the worst things we've done in that region yet. Somebody in DC pulled some strings to get the state dept. to do that, probably someone who has ties to the security company involved. It was a good ole boy move.............and it couldn't come at a worse time IMO. We've been making "some" headway there............this could potentially set things back............unbeleivable.
