Welcome to Kevin Levrone's training log

Yep. 2 months ago I couldn't even bench 185 1rm. Today I put up 275 twice. Haven't lifted in three years, so the muscle memory thing is definitely true. I was benching 400 three years ago so I'm still "weak" by that gauge but I'm sure Levrone was benching 500 in 2000 and he's probably around 335 on bench right now. "Weak" by his standards, beast man weights if you ask me.

Levrone's squat is pretty weak right now, I'll admit that, but my squat is terrible right now as well. It's not surprising he can only do 275 for 6 reps right now.

I think maybe sometimes we get disillusioned with what "heavy" weight is when we keep watching Ronnie squat and deadlift 800 lbs. I'll be very happy when I can deadlift 500 again.

Yea bro, it's amazing how relatively quickly it comes back to you. 275 is nothing to laugh at...Not many can even do that:)

As for the 400 that's sweet for sure! I love cranking 4 plates on each sides and doing a few reps...and with God's help as long as Im healthy I will always enjoy doing that:)

Im not suprised about the strength loss. It goes away if you dont lift but it comes back very quickly if you start again.
If I lay off for a while i can hardly do 275 on bench but I can rep 315 within few weeks if I eat right and train religiously. I guess if you have mature muscle cells the muscle memory comes back to pretty much where you left off
If he is doing this naturally he has some serious muscle memory!

Good point. Did he really take 3-4 years off training without weights at all???!! wouldnt have thought someone who loves this so much could do that. I know i couldnt!

that's the thing, in many interviews he talks about how much he doesn't like being in the gym. he would take most the year off while touring with his band and then hit the weights for 4-6 months prior to the O

Imagine if he went hardcore all throughout the year?

He could have been another 10-15 lbs on stage which would have netted him a few Olympia titles.

He'd pack on 35 solid pounds 4 months out and get in shape. Nobody else could do that. His conditioning is always really good too. Dry and hard. The guy didn't have to work as hard as others to get to where he was at and he usually placed in the top 3 in shows. He's probably the most gifted BB there has ever been. His many wins and top 3's show that clearly.

If thats true thats amazing!
