Weighted bench dips

I tried these out to change up the routine a little and MAN, my tris blew up! I hadn't done bench dips in a long while, so I figured what the heck, you know? the first set was easy for me, so then I put a 45 plate on my lap for the upcoming sets. I like the feeling. my tris were almost screaming when I was done. almost meaning, I didn't want to do too many reps for 4 sets, and I couldn't have put another 45 on by myself. it was a good change.

so what do you guys think of this exercise?

good exercise I just dont like to put my shoulders at that kind of angle I like weighted dips usually done on chest day for me but when using a bench with my arms behind me like that doesnt make me feel very comfortable

good exercise. personally i prefer regular weighted dips and even though i get a good pump in my triceps, i do it to mainly work my lower chest. by flaring out your elbows and leaning into the movement you hit your lower chest real nice.

Great mass builder, but be careful, this can be stressfull to underdeveloped attachments. Meaning don't go too heavy too quick.

Great excercise if you don't mind shoulder impingement and the associated damage to your body.

Go back to weighted dips - a much better stretch and less strain on your joints.

I like regular dips better, but I think bench dips make for a great change up. It's kind of a pain in the ass trying to have someone help you with the plates, especially if you normally lift alone. But I think they're good for variety.

can you explain the shoulder impingement?

http://www.testosterone.net/html/body_61tris.html

and read under #1. What happens, in the case of doing bench dips, is that the shoulder joint is taken out of alignment with the body and placed under load (made worse by adding a plate or 4).

And in case you don't understand enough (and want to get a laugh at my expense similar to my explanation of squatting with a board under your heels) - Poliquin is the man, hands down.

peace.
