I will take Diamond Dave over Hagar any day. I seen them both perform live. Roth blows Hagar away... But the shred master makes everyone look good!
The best music was from the Diamond Dave era. By a long shot.

i'm not going to argue that point...i just love the riff work on those two songs from the hagar era...so fucking catchy...and throwing tha makita in?? wtf is not to like???
I hear you bro, I love their first album with Hagar (5150), I think it is just an excellent album. What makes me really want to throw-up is when I YouTube "the best of both worlds," and Hannah Montana or whatever her name is pops up everywhere. She actually had the audacity to do a Van Halen cover. What is even more sad is that she has 20 million views and Van Halen has 1 million views, and it is their song.
Yeah, there is no doubt that sound is fucking incredible. If you listen to "Best of Both Worlds," which I know you will catch, he goes back and forth with crescendos and decrescendos in a allegro mode back to adagio mode and the solo is pure presto mode with shredding up and down the frets...
The real debate is:
Black Sabbath
Ozzy, who sang in sync with the instuments?
Or Dio, how sang across the intrumental melody?
Randy...no contest.

i love the riff(s) from 5150 (the title track) too...just...fun, fun music...
knot van hagar, but i just love this song and the tiny little guitar that he plays for it...fuggin' fun stuff
nah...the real debate is:
randy rhoads
or zakk wylde??

Nah, Jake E. Lee is the best Ozzie leadman imo. Rhodes died too young, Wylde just never really came up with his own style.. He does a lot of imitation...
I just love all songs where the guitar riff sounds like a train:
keyboard > guitar

I would take arsenic over either one. Hair metal sucks, and Van Halen invented the genre.

According to Roth and 10 million hot women you are wrong.

so you probably really hate this shit??![]()
So that makes their music not suck?
Lol
hipster jesus told me that as long as they are passionate and genuine about their music let them love shit, but say nothing.
We got a hipster
There is a lot of stuff that I don't like but I don't bother letting everyone know how much I don't like their music.
I don't listen to this stuff either, but telling someone that something they like sucks is incredibly rude, imo. Not liking something does not make you unique. I'll never understand certain people.
Lol @ giving him the benefit of calling him a hipster, calling him an ornery ogre would have been more appropiate. Considering I am an accomplished musician, my opinion means something, and his opinion means nothing. However, we are all music theorists, hence, does he feel like debating? I will gladly hand him his ass..
He wishes he sucked this bad...

Don't get too self-righteous because you've told me some of the stuff I listen to "isn't real music". You're just as bad!![]()
Yeah, that was between you and me, I didn't put it out there on an open forum. Mr. Douchebag hijacked a nice thread that had a lot of nice exchanges of opinions with no disagreements or insults. He felt compelled to attempt to ruin a good thread with his erroneous, illiterate bias opinion, which I don't recall anyone inviting him or using him as a reference in the thread. Therefore, he is a classic troll.

I was thinking the same thing. I guess cindylou has an e-type.

Get the led out...

Try to deviate from the path of being the stereotypical passive-aggressive trolling male, who only posts about social issues on a roid site. Relax bro, I get friendly, let me turn you on to some "real" music.

That'll work.
plant was always kind of a long-haired, somewhat androgynous, limey fvck with some damned feminine stage mannerisms (at times)...chick with dick too???
And if you and I got 1/16 the pussy he got we would both die happy men...
I can get into that. But to me, Led Zeppelin II is the definitive album.
i love led-zepp...i was just trying to point out deebs hypocrisy for calling van halen chicks-with-dicks.
Lol..excellent call out.
are these guys on your radar screen??
my brother turned me on to them a year or so ago...i have quite a few of their tunes on the gymp3 player.

Yes, the proverbial, perpetual argument about what Zeppelin album is the best among Zep fans. I say, the are all equally great. However, for the sake of having fun ZOSO would be real hard to beat...
The chicks with dicks thing was aimed more at Poson, Cinderella, Warrant, Motley Crue, and the other hair metal assholes.
I think the difference for me is that Plant was really that flamboyant, the hair metal creeps were just doing it for attention, it was the thing to do at the time.
No bro, I can't say I ever heard of them, but they do have a good sound. I think I need to enter into the 21st Century when it comes to music...
Generally my favorite Zep album is whichever one is playing at the moment. A good argument could be made for any of them. I even like In Through The Out Door. I do think II is the least interesting, and IV is overplayed to death. I tend to favor I, III, Physical Graffiti and Presence.
Yeah, I love them all... Like I said, we all music theorists, it is all about what you like. I agree ZOSO is horribly overplayed, consequently, the other albums get overlooked and people don't realize how great they are. If I had to say the one album I don't really care for it would be CODA.
still has one of my favorites (go ahead and hate...but it's a fun song and i don't care...i like it)...
Led, love the avi! I read about him and my family last name is linked to this guy. Fucking awesome.
No hating here, I love that song, besides that song is off "In Through The Outdoor." You are so sentimental..lol

lol whatever. You really meant this right?
Since retirement homes usually try to focus on the emotional nourishment of elderly individuals by playing music that was popular from their generation, I try not to let senior citizens define "real" music for me. Otherwise, I have a rule to always listen to my elders.I joke.

This has gone from Van Halen/Hagar to Led Zeppelin...come on now, apples and oranges...Zeppelin = Gods! Just got done listening to Rain Song, one of their best IMO.

Yeah, let's shift gears, here is pure guitar virtuosity..

To me the Van Hagar stuff was too polished. This is the only one I liked:
Even "Coda" has its moments:
