hey..i was thinking about dropping down a weight class or two, since i'm very fat nowadays. i remember people posting before about carb cycling..is this ideal for somebody on a strength routine or is it more suited to a dieting bodybuilder?

i'm about 250, down from 260 and would like to be at 225 or so to compete in the 220's. there's no real rush, but with summer coming up and all, there's not much fun in being a dough boy.

if you could explain carb cycling to me, or at least point me to a different thread explaining it, i'd really appreciate it. i'm having a hard time w/ the search function.

would carb cycling work better than trace carbs after 6-7 pm, cardio, no sugars, and not mixing fat and carbs, and ECA to preserve/gain strength?

as for what i'm doing now..well i've been training for a bench contest coming up on june 21st. my training consists of metal militia style training days, on monday and friday, and a DE squat day on wednesdays. every couple weeks i go for a max full or max box squat on wednesday and drop the benching for the week. i plan on doing lots of reverse hypers throughout the week.

my parents just wont take me to a chiro. trust me, i'm begging them to but they must not have the money or dont think its serious enough to take me. there's still pain in certain movements in my back. i was thinking about doing a strongman contest before..my back's not ready for it. but when i am ready, i might do a contest or two per year for fun.

thanks for the time

I personally think you are making things way too complicated. If you train hard enough the pounds will begin to shed. Ask yourself, how much progress have you actuallly made in the last few months? If you cut carbs out of the diet, how do you propose to get stronger? Right now, you need to focus on rehabing your injuries and focus on core lifts. Start performing some cardio to help strengthen your heart and burn extra fat. Turn your body into an anabolic machine. . . doesn't seem it is quite there.

the last couple weeks i've just been eating whatever when i felt hungry and right after i've lifted. i have been making small PRs every week, on the same lifts (board presses)

i know that it would work to just work harder. and i plan on doing this...through lifting and cardio. it's just that i know it could go a lot faster if diet was perfectly in tune

i dont plan on cutting carbs out of the diet, at least not too many. rather, i'd try to time the consumption so i get what i need but nothing that could hinder fat loss

Check out the diet board. There's some good diet manipulation plans on there to help drop a bit of flab on not lose lean muscle or strength.

Also, open up the phone book and start calling chiros. Almost all of them offer free first time visits. They'll usually take an x-ray, tweak you here and there, and some may throw in a decent massage. They'll all tell you that you have some sort of condition that needs subsequent visits of course, but just use a few of them for the free first time visits. They will usually treat you really well also, since they want to to come back. Just don't give them your real phone #.:)
