I used to have shoulder problems on everything but singles. I would work up to about eighty or ninety percent of my one rep max...and do nothing but singles because they didn't hurt my shoulder.
I have also taken the flat bench and added a twenty-five pound plate underneath the bottom of the bench to slightly give me a decline...seemed to help a bit. Warm your rotators up before EVERY workout...even if you are doing calves and abs only...warm them up.
