Trade your Bible for porn

This is a stupid question. Of course they do. The key word being "many" as opposed to "all" or "none". Many Christians, the majority I would say, show other peoples beliefs respect. Some Christians dont, but the majority do. The ones that dont get the media play, as usual.

No, it's not a stupid question. I will agree that some Christians show respect, however just the notion that they believe I am going to hell for not thinking the same way they do smacks of disrespect. That is not showing respect for anothers beliefs. :)

you reap what you sow.

I think (hope) that people are getting tired of the religious right (wrong) in this country trying to legislate their beliefs - I think that is the ultimate in disrespect regarding what this country was founded on.

Blasphemy is the only unforgivable sin, so I suppose those people can just keep on sinning becuase they sure ain't getting into heaven.

It's just downright disgraceful people can trade bibles for porn but if someone started a trade your welfare check for watermelon and chicken in the hood or something, all hell would break lose (no pun intended)

Interesting quote in the original article, the atheist dude explaining that societies get their shared values from somewhere that is not necessarily religious, and "societies that don't find that, don't survive."

often times the morality and the values that the non-believer hold will be more strongly adhered to than that of the casual believer. This is due to the method at which they were obtained. The non-believer has spent countless hours pondering such issues; to deny the existence of something that society accepts as 99% fact and could possibly be engrained in our DNA requires a non-objective thought process on all fronts.

As far as socities not surviving this could be argued. It appears to be true from the outside but internal factors could be another reason for collapse. And how long do you define "surviving"?

Note my careful choice of wording.

is blasphemy unforgiveable?

your (bad) welfare analogy makes no sense

I can't believe God hasn't started the tribulation yet. I mean this type of stuff is like what was going on in Sodam and Gomorra and we all know what happened to them. Have mercy God for they know not what they do.

I am not at all anti-religous anymore but I still feel inclined to ask you to hold your breath and wait for that to happen.

The same passage of the bible that says sins can be forgiven does say that god will never forgive you for blasphemy...I'll see if I can find the exact quote.

Edit: found it.

Mark 3:28-29 said:
Truly I say to you, all sins shall be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they utter; 29 but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin
