To much protien make u sick?

GOLUAN

New member
I have been intakeing about 300-400 gram of protien. Now Im all clogged up and sick to my stomech. Can to much protien make u sick?

its never happened to me before but im sure its possible. could also be something else that you ate yesterday.

Never happened here either. You could try taking some digestive enzymes or ginger if you feel that it's the protein that's causing the problem. Lee Haney used to snack on pineapples in between meals to assist in the protein breakdown. Most likely it's something else. Any changes or sudden increases in total calories in your diet? If so, your body will adapt and get used of it in time.

I Drink plenty of water.......im might have the test flu...who knows...im just feeling really freaken bad

You guys are kidding right? Excess protein can be very bad for your. It can cause kidney failure, heart disease, cancer, osteoperosis, obesity and kidney stones....Infact i just had a nutrition test about this.

Papers please??? The only evidence I have ever seen in studies that high protein intakes are detrimental is when there is a pre existing kidney problem.

And what is "high"?

my only form of papers is "Understanding Nutrition" tenth edition by ellie whitney/sharon rady rolfes. i believe it when you come close to doubling your RDA. not sure, tho.

So, the RDA is what?? 60 gr. maybe at tops? So, if you take in 120 gr., and this is for any bodyweight now, not specified in the RDA by the way, you think that 121 gr. for anyone will cause kidney failure?

Remember, these folks are the same putzes, clinical dieticians with degrees from the top medical schools on their walls that for years, fought the losing battle that bodybuilders/athletes needed no more protein than the joe couch potato.

And, the same putzes who everyone followed in mas that all fat was bad for you, and now are so afraid of the word fat, again wrong.

And, well, you get the picture I hope.

My suggestion is to NOT take everything you read in these texts as 100% fact. You will find many contradictions, especially when it comes to nutrition & training. Sure, it's confusing when it comes to test time, but learn the material for the test, & take the time to research the concepts on your own as well to form your own opinions about the topics.

Do Regular High Protein Diets Have Potential Health Risks on Kidney Function in Athletes?

Jacques R. Poortmans; Olivier Dellalieux
Full Article Table of Contents for Vol. 10, Iss. 1

Abstract
Excess protein and amino acid intake have been recognized as hazardous potential implications for kidney function, leading to progressive impairment of this organ. It has been suggested in the literature, without clear evidence, that high protein intake by athletes has no harmful consequences on renal function. This study investigated body-builders (BB) and other well-trained athletes (OA) with high and medium protein intake, respectively, in order to shed light on this issue. The athletes underwent a 7-day nutrition record analysis as well as blood sample and urine collection to determine the potential renal consequences of a high protein intake. The data revealed that despite higher plasma concentration of uric acid and calcium, Group BB had renal clearances of creatinine, urea, and albumin that were within the normal range. The nitrogen balance for both groups became positive when daily protein intake exceeded 1.26 g q kg–1 but there were no correlations between protein intake and creatinine clearance, albumin excretion rate, and calcium excretion rate. To conclude, it appears that protein intake under 2.8 gq kg–1 does not impair renal function in well-trained athletes as indicated by the measures of renal function used in this study.

Do an internet search for "protein poisoning" there is such a thing. It's usually when you intake too much protein and not enough fats. Check though.

Boy, you guys really need to stop making these type posts. This is where so much mis information gets started. Have some research to back up what you say.

Sure enought, someone willl read that and go around telling their friends about protein poisoning. :(

How much fibre (good fibrous carbs) are you taking in? At a minimum, the body needs 32g of fibre to 'keep it all going'. If your fibrous carbs aren't high enough, you're actually doing an Atkins-lookalike - and one of the known side effects of Atkins is clogged drains! Try logging what you eat into fitday.com for a couple of days to see what your fibre intake is. You might also want to switch up the protein sources and see if you react better to one than to the other.

Also, am I correct in assuming that you weigh 300-400lbs? The rule of thumb around here (not mainstream - well, mainstream BODYBUILDING ;) ) seems to be 1-1.2 g protein/lb of bodyweight.

Taking in 300 gr. of lean protein and doing an Atkins diet can and are two totally different things. You cannot compare those two on that basis.

The fiber does not make it Atkins or not.

Atkins allowed high fat proteins, bacon, etc. Along with high fats from butter, etc.
