This is not a criticism of Americans...

...more an observation.

Recently came back from a stint in the islands. Any amount of young Brits, Euros, Japs, Koreans, Aussies, New Zealanders, Israelis etc all travelling the globe, but barely a Yank in sight?

Anyway, we know that most Americans seldom go abroad for anything other than short vacations, business trips or to slaughter humans in foreign lands.

Is that because they're not interested in experiencing or learning about the rest of the world? Is it that Americans believe traveling abroad isn't safe? Is it that everyone is so tied up in their lives to escape for an extended period?

Why do you think that is?

In your opinion, and thanks for your opinion, it's good to have an opinion, it gives insight however it doesn't answer the question.

I live in Vegas, and there's very few other places I'd rather be.
I like to visit Venice CA, Seattle, Portland, Vancouver BC, and Pheonix.
Someday I'd like to see Carnival in Rio. Other than that, I'd rather just stay home.
Why? Expense, risk, time, effort, and I just don't care to see the rest of the world.
I won't even visit the U.S. deep south. I saw "deliverence" you inbred sicko toothless hillbilly fucks - lol.

americans are way more preoccupied with stacking cash and balling outrageous than the need to chill out in some other country. i'm sure intolerance also plays a role, as well as reluctance to learn another language. i think the only americans who really wanna experience the rest of the world are either college students or recent graduates - people who are the most open minded and the least constrained.

I should have made this thread...

my feelings exactly. There is simply too much to see in the World to miss it.

I think your observation is incorrect. Perhaps you didn't see many, but here in Europe, and when I lived in the Far East, I couldn't go many places without bumping into an American who lived there.

It is almost disappointing sometimes because when I travel abroad I like to think I am getting away, but when I see other Americans it seems like I never left.

I agree to disagree

the only Americans I see around are those with military ties. Americans will not move out somewhere else too willingly, they simply have no need for it.

I'm all over the world with my job and see this exact thing everywhere I go. Fortunately my job affords me to travel and see the world but one of the negative things that my friends and I all complain about is everytime we go somewhere there is "Euro Trash" combing the grounds. I have lived in Germany for 6 years and love Europe. What I don't love is travelling the world, seeing beautiful places and some unshaved, living out of a suitcase asshole sitting next to me at every bar I stop pinching pennies and complaining about Americans fucking up the world. Our country is very beautiful and has many things to offer without having to deal with the stupid shit. Just a guess on one of the many reasons Americans don't travel, home is awesome.
