think i might have HIV

whats up guys just want to get a few opinions here. did a home hiv test about 6-8 months ago and was negative and ive been perfectly healthy until now. since january ive only banged 3 chicks without condoms, 2 of whom i had just met at the time and one who ive known for a while but only banged that one time without a condom. no symptoms of anything no sickness and obviously they were clean to their knowledge.

a few days ago i got really sick when i slept with the a/c on for 2 nights, 60 degrees. when i woke up the third day i knew i would get sick and started to feel symptoms of fever, and my tonsils were swelling up worse than usual. usually home remedies take care of this and im fine after a few days but this time it was more severe. i went to the veterans hospital and they fixed my fever which was 103, but they were still working on my tonsils. the doc poked them with a syringe and no pus came out so they themselves werent infected, but he thought i had a virus. they gave me antibiotics for my tonsils and told me after a few days the swelling would subside and in 2 weeks i can have my tonsils removed, its been almost a day and the pain has subsisded somewhat and everything seems to be going good, except in other parts of my body. my gums are extremely sensitive, im getting liquid shits, i had some pus coming out of some cuts in my hands, my saliva is thick and slimy like a rabid dog.

so finally heres my question, could my recent bout of fever/swollen tonsils be the starting point of my symptoms of hiv, assuming i might have it. for example lets say you were positive but not showing symptoms and you did something to get sick, like blast the a/c for 2 days, would your hiv symptoms show then? and if the meds (antiobiotics and vicodin) they gave me are making me feel a little better after not even a full day, can it still be hiv, or is hiv too strong for these antiobiotics and id still be feeling really sick.

i was scheduled an hiv test for next week, but this was a few weeks ago before i even got sick so the testing is coming. the ent doc says he thinks its a virus but didnt say what kind, and i dont bang hundreds of women, 3 so far this year without condoms, 1 of whom i already knew. im not saying im not at risk though but i know theres people more reckless than me.

anyways any feedback is good feedback and if anyone needs anymore info ill gladly provide it in the meantime here are the meds the doc prescribed

antiobiotics-amoxicillin 875/clavulanate k 125mg
vicodin-hydrocodone/acetaminophen 5/500 mg

if its funny let me make this simpler for dumbasses like fajitas,

hiv symptoms dont have to show right away, but if you get sick with something else, can your hiv symptoms show while your immune system is weak with another sickness you get ?
and
can antiobiotics you take for another sickness strengthen your immune system and prevent you from seeing hiv symptoms ?

fajitas i only need serious replies if you want to laugh do it somewhere else please
im sure youd be somewhat nervous if you were taking a hiv test and you knew you didnt wrap it a few times

you should learn a little more about HIV before you have unprotected sex again ...that's for sure !

Hi, sorry to hear you're so freaked out!
Check into some info on Cryptic Tonsils. That is when you have caves in the back of your tonsils that collect debris and cause pus to grow on the back of your throat.
If left untreated, this causes a very sore throat, fever and aches.
If you are having your tonsils removed, that is the only cure.
Gargle with salt water when you feel this coming on and gargle every day with an antibacterial mouth wash.
This does NOT mean you have HIV.
Get the HIV test and yes in future wear condoms. We are all guilty of playing with our lives this way.....we always think " this will not happen to us"!
Stay safe dude!

my right side hurts more, so the doc poked it with a syringe to see if my tonsils were infected and no pus came out
ive just never been this sick before in my life so im looking at all the possibilities

get tested. one really smart person said to me the enemy you know is better than the enemy you don't know. if you do have it, it's not a death sentence like it was. you could live for a long, long time. i went thru something similar this winter, and i was thinking quite a lot like you. swollen nodes, hacking cough, tiring easily. hiv has many symptoms that are common with other ailments. i can't think of why your doc hasn't tested you, jus' to ease you mind, if nothing else.........

It can take up to a year to detect the HIV antibodies if you have developed any, just wait and see what the test actually shows.

HIV is notorious for NOT being something that can be diagnosed by symptoms. Yes, you may have something, but hopefully it's not HIV.

BUT....yes, you have had unprotected sex, so yes, you need to be tested. It only takes once to become infected, and it can be transmitted from woman to man.

From now on, use condoms regardless of whether or not you know the individual. Knowing the person doesn't mean that you know whether or not they're infected (in fact, THEY probably don't even know if they're positive....in that case most people say they're negative even thought they don't know).

Someone earlier said that it takes up to a year to show positive. That's not correct. Six months is considered the outside window, and it's about 99% accurate at the 3 month mark.

Hopefully you don't have HIV. You may have something else, but hopefully not HIV. By the way, there are oral tests that can give you your results in 20 minutes. If you're really concerned, you may want to consider that type of test so that you don't have to wait a week or more.

Good luck.

Symptoms dont show right away, it could have been laying dormant in your system for quite some time. Best advice is to wear protection from now on and get tests every 6 months

definitly get tested for hiv,not something you want to wait and see,and being paranoid is normal especially if your doin it without a condom, I would have too be dying for sex before i would have unprotected sex with someone i hadn't been monogomous "pardon the spelling if its wrong" with for a least 6 months and both had been tested, IMO. good luck bro, hopefully it's not the bird flu j/k

I think you should get test for all STD's STI's - when it comes to unprotected sex and diseases - HIV should not be your only concern

I don't know where you get tested, but antibodies should be detected within 3 months of exposure. In most cases 5-8weeks from time of exposure.

It all depends when were you possibly exposed to hiv. Some experience symptoms of hiv infection within 2-5 days of exposure. The next set of symptoms MAY occurr during SERO-conversion, i.e. when you develop antibodies. Usually between 2-8 weeks of time of exposure.

If you are concerned the only way to know is to go and get tested.

Hope this helps and GOOD LUCK to you!

1. you should get tested.
2. If is not uncommon for people to get bad flu like symptoms when they convert to positive. It has something to do with the immune system reacting to the virus. I got sick as hell for a week (17 years ago)

3. Statistically, it is hard for a male to be infected by a women. Though not impossible. The odds of transfering the virus increase if you have lessions, herpes, warts, etc on your member.

4. It would be better to engage in safe sex for your own safety as well as the chick.

Hope that helps
