The Washington Post has declared the South the worst place to live in the U.S.

Cities make my skin crawl. I had a full blown meltdown panic attack in New York. I lost my mind. Dirty, noisy, aggressive, claustrophobic *shudder*

There is nothing like being able to listen to your own thoughts without the constant assault of the roar of humanity, just birds and breeze, maybe the waves. Walking down the street in a city is like having your nose, eyes and ears raped.
I can fade out noise real easy. The noise, the people, the smells, the stores, the variety, all those things make cities glorious. If I could afford it I'd live right in NYC.I was just there in May with hubby, he managed to ruin most of it with his attitude but it was great. I'm hopefully going again for xmas, this time alone, it's gonna be AWESOME

I spent a week in the Seattle/Tacoma area a few years ago. Probably my favorite area of the country of the places I've been outside of home.

Oh, BS, my son has lived in Texas for eight years, it's the biggest toilet of them all and he's the first to tell you so. The only place even vaguely worth anything in his opinion is Austin.

Virginia and the Carolinas are beautiful states. Sometimes the reason the income in regions is low is because there aren't local opportunities for work the land is protected and can't be developed.

We dont agree on much, but this is one of those times

I'm not wired that way, I do understand that other people do that, it's how they can live near trains or work in sewers. I cannot tune out noise or smells. It's one of the reasons why living where I do is driving me insane. I'm on the corner of two streets and I always hear the cars, constantly. They drive by and I just clench up. I can't leave my windows open, ever.

You'd probably love living where I do. I'm 1/2 hour from CC Philadelphia, 2 hours from NYC, that's by car. You can get to both of them by public in about the same amount of time.

I can't wait to move but for now vacations are taken when other people don't go in places they won't be.
