It is with great sadness that I make this post. Earlier today, IFBB Pro and Masters Mr. Olympia Champion, Don Youngblood, was found deceased in his home.

I can't really give the details yet as the family wants to wait for the autopsy reports until the "specific" cause is determined. As of right now there are a lot of sketchy details.

Please take a moment to think of Don and pray for his family.

Kim, Dominic and I want to send our love and prayers to his wife, Sue and his kids as this is an extremely sad and tough time.

I will keep everyone posted on this and let everyone know when funeral arrangements are made and where they can send flowers/cards.

He was a prominent candidate in the ongoing Dead Pool articles over the years.

How sad.
 
Dam, that really is sad to hear. That dude was ripped for his age. I started hearing about him a few years back. He came up out of no where. He really did make his name known for awhile.

Very sorry to hear that. From I've heard, he was a great person.

The dead pool that AAP was referring to is a thread that started years ago on some BB chat board. Anyway it became legendary with people guessing who was going to drop dead from their high AAS usage. Some claimed that they knew "so and so" and he takes this amount of this and that amount of that. Most of it was unsubstantiated, but it was entertaining. Lee Priest was always near the top of the list. Not only for the amounts of AAS that he uses, but the weight he used to walk around at in the off season a few years ago.
 
It looks like he's just done little ab work and ended up with low bodyfat but no ab development.

Yes, I noticed the GH Gut as well (not that photo, but other ones on his website when he's up on stage looking $1m), then again, Ronnie or Markus have made GH Guts famous!!

I'm sorry to hear that someone could pass away so young and who knows why he passed away. Time will return an answer. A friend of mine just dropped in his teens of heart failure. It was something he carried all his life, but never knew. One day he was going about his business, the next day was one of the saddest of our lives as we prepared to lay him to his eternal rest
 
sorry to see him go. I sure they'll be a bunch of lies & hype about this one. I remember that dead pool thread. It or a form of it was posted here years ago. I like to dig the original up again now.

Actually bro some people just have a thin abdominal wall and their abs don't have the traditional 6 pack look to them. They can be very lean, as Don is in the pic, and you still can't see them. I had a friend that competed on the national level that had the same problem. He always used to get pissed at me because although I never worked my abs, they are genetically very thick and the 6 pack is easily visible. Everyone has their weak and strong points though. I would have killed for his calves. Mine suck!

thats the only thing on this dude that wasn't formed correctly was his abs. in none of his poses he looked like he never even did abs.. but it is a shame of his untimely death. But, even I, would assume the roids killed him after looking at his pictures...almost all of the guys who died from heart attack, stroke, aneurism, all looked like they were extremely abusing steroids to a point that it finally took its toll on them..
 
Roids don't kill people. The people who abuse the roids kill themselves.

Sad to here that he left us. He was a ripped as old guy...

how old was he?


this is a very sad story. However, I assume that he went to every extreme he could possibly go to to beat vince in the 2002 Masters. He had been trying to beat him for years.
 
I'm actually from Arkansas and still live here, I know some people who have worked with him. I know he will be missed on many levels. I had heard he was in poor health. I didn't know him personally, but I had heard others who did talk about him. It makes you hurt.
 
sad, very sad ... in this case I would have to educate a guess that the drugs played a role in his early exit .... to be at that level, at that age, takes a huge amount of drugs

i'm not really sure of that......i read in M&F how Omar Deckard never trains abs, yet he clearly as well defined abs.....must be from the squats
 
Training abs doesn't have anything to do with having great abs, genetics and low bodyfat. Obviously you can improve them though. I don't ever train abs and mine look pretty good onstage. You don't have to train abs to have nasty abs.
 
Gymrat, I am the same way. I have 8 instead of 6. I don't train abs year round and usually don't pre-contest. I am doing them pre-contest this year just to see if they respond or not.
 
I am sorry for the guy but honestly guys if we sit here and say that theres no way that its highly probably juice and the bodybuilding life style played a role in his death where only kidding ourselves. I think most people on here believe that juice in moderation is ok, however abusing juice like all these pro's can have consequences. Maybe this is just my opinion but dying at 40 is not really worth it to me and besides nobody on earth could pay me enough money to use as much juice as this guy did if I new I would have abs like he does in that pic.
 
Death always builds upon my past, present, and future thoughts...i always hope it helps strengthen my paths to come, but in the same instant remind me how fragile we all are...

We do not know why he died, and cannot assume it was the steroids. He could have had a pre-existing condition, perhaps something he was born with, that was independant of his AAS use. To assume it was the steroids would be ignorance.
 
He was not 40. He was 51. Alot of people die in their early fifties due to pre-disposed heart problems that either don't have much control over, or a unhealthy lifestyle was followed. None of these top pros "don't" abuse juice. All of these guys are taking massive amounths that would probably blow all of your minds. Just look @ Munzier's last cycle, you guys think that he was the only one that followed a cycle like that. There is no doubt in my mind that Ronnie Coleman takes 20+ of both slin a gh a day when he uses them. NO DOUBT!! But..Ronnie only competes once a year, and when i saw him @ this years arnold...he was much smaller(so he obvioulsy came off) Guys who compete year round..like dexter...are the guys who are at the most risk. The most important thing when taking these drugs..is coming off. Letting you body return to normal is very..very important.

It's a good thing that we have someone like nuthnbutfords that is so knowledgable about what the pros are currently taking. Actually, I agree with a lot of what you said. Ronnie has taken his body to a level that exceeds even comic book freakiness. Has anyone seen his recent BSN ads. They are sikk!

Did you guys know he only uses about 200-300 Mg Deca/ Week and 250 Mg of test....AMAZING!

It's playing Russian Roulette with your health. 6 guys may take them and not have any serious health consequences (although I imagine supra doses over many years will shorten your life some) the 7th guy will die from them. RIP. That is very sad indeed.
 
Let me tell you about Don's abs, Photo's do not do them justice, I was in the gym one day and he was posing and we were all sitting around and he said to show mine, and I flexed them, it was before a contest and I thought I was all bad, he then flexed his and were better than mine and i said "yeah, there close" just joking around and he said "and I outweigh you by 170lbs". I will so miss him, he was always willing to help and never asked for anything in return, i will so miss him :( :( :( :( He was a very good man.

ummmm...he was 51....hair are you kidding me....my friend was clean and bald at 18. His face too....I look ten years older when dieted than not...well 5 anyway, the thin dermus brings out wrinkles...like an old person. I actually believe it was damage done before he started BB. He was extremly overweight and had a very poor diet and bad cholesterol and triglycerides. It improved actually with his lifestyle change. I am sure the gear and extra bodyweight in lean muscle weight contributed but I would also bet he has a family history of heart disease. do not be so quick to jump to conclusions and villanize gear. It does get worrisum as one gets older.

He as at the Missouri walking around the first year I went, Chad Nicholls made him come up on-stage and strip down. He looked amazing. I will never forget it.

I know this thread is a little old, but this comment is truly from a retarded man at best. Take a look at the New England Journal of Medicine, the worlds most regarded and utmost authority on medicine. They even claim that there is not one case in the entire world that can link a single death to the use of AAS. Plus you comment is just fucking ignorant at the end.
